Figure a month of "lurking" is enough for me. This site has been really helpful in the planning of my first tri which should be about 4-5 months from now. Being a terrible swimmer and a weak biker this is going to be a huge challenge and I'm pumped for it. Unfortunately the Canadian winter will keep me indoors for the bulk of my training (boring!). Well good luck to all in their training!
Cheers EH!

Oh i forgot to mention .. the standard Canuck greeting should include "and watch out for Glen, eh?".  Just kidding of course

As for why there's so many of us ..we canadians are tough.  We can survive on icicles, snow and whale blubber

welcome.... it is GREAT to be a northerner!!! I thought those of us from Winnipeg & Thunder Bay were from the 'north'..... but Fort McMurray.... Wow you are north and definitely have to train indoors during the winter months. but it's OK... come spring, look out for us, we're on with full force!!!!

Hi Mike and welcome!  Do you have a particular tri in mind to aim for? Wondering if you need to go to Edmonton for most events or is there a tri community in Fort Mac??

Good luck with the winter training ... I found I actually LIKE running outside in the winter, but since -37 C was my cut-off temp last year, not sure I could manage up in Fort Mac ... chilly there eh?

(I guess I can call my self  'from the south' when I talk to you... sounds a whole lot warmer than Winnipeg!)

Wow, it seems theres a lot of canucks on the site which I didn't expect for some silly reason. For answers fort mac= Fort McMurray in the north of alberta, and I enjoy running outside too but when it gets to the -40 mark I don't think too many poeple like to walk outside never mind run. Fort mac has a tri club but apparently the olympic/sprint they tried to hold last year was cancelled due to interest. So yes I might have to end up somewhere else to race after all. Its OK though, my bro lives in calgary and we plan on doing our first tri together on common ground. Thanks for all the support and such a warm welcome. If the tri community is always like this I can't imagine not getting addicted!
