Subject: the best heart rate monitor training book?
What is the best heart rate monitor training book out there?

Is there such a book known as the "bible" of heart rate training books?

Thank you

Joe Friel's latest book is 2006 edition Precision Heart Rate Training, I belive that is the title, not sure. I have it on the shelf but am lazy to get up and look. It is published by Ulysess Press. Excellent book, I belive a must in triathlete's library.

I agree! The book is actually called Total Heart Rate Training. And it is by Joel Friel. I used it last year and cut almost 5 minutes off of my 5K time in the first season of using it! Granted my starting 5K time was around 30-31 minutes. I actually ran a 23:42 in late July on a 85 degree day which was and likely will remain my PR! Hope this helps.

Joe Friel's book is the best heart rate training book I have read. I don't recommend any of the books by Sally Edwards.

Why don't you recommend Sally Edwards's books? Just curious, as I have one! Thanks!

A few fellow athlete's attended one of her workshops in Clermont, FL and informed me about heart rate training and her book. So actually, Sally Edwards was my first reference and got me interested in heart rate training. To me and from what I remember, the book did not seem to read fluidly and it lacked solid references in heart and physiology science. This was from within the chapters of the book and it lacked a decent bibliography. The book reads like information was from her personal experience and what she learned from other athletes. Which is perfectly fine to a certain extent.

This is the book I read. This one at amazon appears to be the 2nd edition. Maybe it's a bit better
