spokes - 2008-01-20 8:22 PM As a resident of the Left Coast, I could care less about the Super Bore matchup. I hate both teams. The Patriots' owner and coach are cheaters. I'm sure they're still stealing signs like they were doing last year... they're not THAT good.

Because I'm sure no other team in the NFL was doing the exact same thing

Just because only one got caught doesn't mean they're the only ones doing it.  And too say they're not that good is....um...ignorant.

That said, 49ers next year baby (okay...i almost said that with a straight face).

I understand that the weather affected both teams, but Manning took it to us (Packers).  Give credit where credit is due.  Harris can't play against the big guys that well and blew a lot of coverage.  Packers defense had too many missed 1st tackles which gave Giants extra yardage.  Giants CAME to play moreso.

Packers - too many missed opportunities and didn't convert them.  HOMETOWN/CROWD ADVANTAGE (doesn't that mean anything?), and it didn't get them going?  Stupid penalties (one big thank you goes to Harris on one).  Trying the old gun-slinger routine a couple of times again - I thought that was settled down?

Kudos to ex-UW Badgers very own Tauscher for his turn-over recovery.  Kudos to the Favre/Driver 1st TD play of the game, and Lee's catch.

Packers, I love 'em, but the Giants proved themselves at the end when it mattered.

I wonder how Morey1's doing at this moment in Lambeau?  Poor guy.

Bummer.  I'm going to bed to sulk a little.    Well, I at least have tomorrow off and can probably get a workout in.

I guess it's just like last week, huh? The best team didn't win, right?  Look at the bright side, Favre adds to his all-time record INTERCEPTIONS total. I'm not a fan of either team, but Green Bay had everything in their favor...and still lost.  Time to give Eli and NY Giants some respect.

So...did the offensive coordinator have absolutely no game plan tonight?  I kinda thought the game plan was focked when I saw the 5 wide sets.  No slants or dink passes like kinda got ya there?  WR screens?  Just stellar.  I wont even comment on how long it took to adjust to cover Burress.  Hats off to the Giants.  Methinks it would have been criminal if they lost, though they didnt really seem to want to win.  Fun game to watch but wasnt expecting precision in that cr@ppy weather.

mr2tony - 2008-01-20 7:27 PM pats v. giants. nobody west of hackensack gives a fack. college football starts in seven short months.

Exactly.

This is exactly the sort of matchup like last year's Super Bore that has to give the NFL TV nightmares. Although the Bears do have a bit of a national following, the Colts are basically a 'who-cares' team outside of Indianapolis and if they didn't have Peyton, they'd be so screwed right now.

You'll have a lot of people watching from NYC to NE, but west of the Appalachians there's going to be pretty much a 'who cares' attitude.

Yes, 7 months back to the "Mythical National College Football Championship." Joy. NOT!

Some of my same thoughts.  With the run game taken away, there seemed to be no quick slant passes like eary in the season and to many passes in the flats or the once powerful and now dreadful screen pass.

The Packers were handing the game over and the Giants kicker handed it back...Twice.  Had a gut feeling by mid-fourth quarter that it was not the Packers night for a win.

In the end, Thank you Packers for a fun and unexpected season.

You mean that Giants team that nobody thought would make the playoff, or beat the Cowboys, or beat the Packers, and took the Patriots to the end in the final week of the season?  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

While I'm still a Chiefs fan, I must say that I'm excited to see the Giants in the superbowl.  I think they'll give the Patriots a run for their money just like they did in the regular season.  I am excited to see Eli Manning get his shot at a ring.  Do I think the Giants will win?  I think if they play perfect and somehow pick off some interceptions (it obviously can be done - see what the Charges did...) then they'll have a legitimate shot at winning.  I'm sure, though, the line in Vegas will be the Pats by 3, but I'm rooting for the Giants.  Anyway, just my $0.02.

That depends on if they are getting around 50% of the people betting for each team.  If they do, the line will stay, if they don't, the line will move accordingly until the oddsmakers get a near even split on the betting action.

I almost had a heart attack watching that game.

All I can say is my Giants play better on the road and the Giants should have won the previous games vs.  the Pats.   The question is which Giants team comes out to play in two weeks?

I'm devastated. The Pack had so many opportunities tonight, and just handed it to the Giants. Hats off to them - they came to play. I have no interest in the super bowl - I'll probably go for a long run to boycott - I'll be working off all the leines I drank tonight for a while.

It's a good thing that the Pack wear yellow pants.  It hides all the opportunities that got pissed down their legs in this game.  Between the two missed FG's, the INT that was recovered as a fumble, and winning the toss in OT, there were numerous opportunities to show themselves as the dominant team.  And yet, it was not meant to be.

Uh??? From what I saw, the Giants had so many opportunities and nearly handed it to the Packers... I like the Pack, but the Giants clearly had a better game.

I think both teams tried to hand it to each other.  Mistakes across the board on both sides.

At least now the Cowboys and Packers have something in common. I believe the team names could be used interchangeable in the following. I think you'll find it's worth the time.

Nope, I’m wearing my Packers turtle neck.  Did have some coworkers say they thought I would have stayed up in mourning.  Told them that I am in a state of Bummage and that the Packers don’t pay me enough to be in mourning.  Again, thank you Packers for a fun and unexpected ride this season.
