Subject: West Point Olympic Or Richard B. Russell Race?
My wife and I were planning out our race calendar and can't decide between Lake West Point Triathlon on June 14th or the Richard B. Russell Tri the parks race on June 7th. I've read most of the race reports and I didn't see any negative posts for either race. Does anyone have an opinion which is more enjoyable?

Thanks,

Doug

No opinion as I haven't done either... But I am registered for the RBR Tri-the Park race because I've registered for the entire 4 race series this year...  I'll be interested to hear from some who have done both though...

West Point is a true Olympic distance race (1500m swim/40k bike/10k run) where RBR is shorter this year (not sure the exact distances but I believe the run is only 4 miles long). The bike course is pretty hilly too. The advantage for West Point is that you can drive down race morning from Roswell, where RBR might be a bit far for that.

I'm doing West Point.

Several of us did RBR last yeat. Leslie (1111) and David (FallsRunner) both drove that morning.  We stayed in a hotel nearby.

It's a nice low key race.

I have not done both, but I would throw a nudge in there for West Point Lake. As was mentioned above, it's true Olympic distance, and only a moderately difficult course. Really, it's as easy as an Olympic can get in this area. The run is mostly flat across a dam, though there are some hills. The bike is rolling, but not extreme in any way. The swim last year was point to point, and not crowded at all. The race is usually a sell out, but it's two months earlier this year than normal, so there's no telling. Good atmosphere, and you generally can't go wrong with a GA multisports event. Stay for the awards and sit close to the speaker, he gives away excellent prizes to whoever answers random questions..
