Hi Everyone!

I'm so glad to have found this discussion! Looks like I will have a support system through this challenge! I am a 24 year old female and I am one month into training for my first triathlon (sprint). I move around a lot for my job (every year) and have discovered how difficult it is to make friends. Instead of sitting alone in my apartment, I decided to spend my free time working out. After 4 months working out with weight loss and toning goals, I decided I wanted to strive for something different. My personal trainer, also training for a triathlon, inspired me to do the same.

I've never been very athletic, having battled asthma my entire life. However, I'm working hard to keep my breathing in contol and get through the 3x Balanced training schedule. Not only have I been able to complete the workouts without too much pain, but my outlook on life and my self-esteem have drastically improved as well.

I'm looking forward to reading your stories over the next couple months and being a support system for one another

BlueRover,
I am also about one month into my training for my first triathlon. Since you are already training in all 3 disciplines, have you picked out an event to compete in? That's a great way to help you plan and give you a goal to look forward to. Good luck in your training! ;-)

Thanks everyone for all of the positive messages. Reading all of these messages made me so excited for my run this evening. It was probably the best run I've had in 2 weeks.

Umbach- I'm thinking about doing either the Mt. Sterling, OH or Oregon, OH TRI in June. My preference is the one in Oregon, OH (closer to my family in Michigan), but I might have a wedding to attend that day. I should know within the next month. I saw that you're from Evansville, IN! I lived there from July 02 - July 03. I lived on the west side, but made my rounds around town fairly often (Fox and Hounds, Breakers, Harpoles, Aztar, etc.) Ahh the memories.... Good luck with your training! Take a run along the river for me.

Crpadiem- good luck with your training as well. Keep me posted on how it is going.

BlueRover,
Small world....I live on the west side. The Greenway project along pigeon creek and the river is progressing, albeit slowly. I'll definitely take a run for you. I noticed on one of the tri race sites that OH seems to have a fair number of events. Sounds like you've got a plan. Train hard and have fun!

BlueRover, welcome to the forum.  I guess now it doesn't matter how often you move around, we'll all be here in the same place.  Best of luck!

Well, I just finished my first month of training yesterday and I feel good. I have lost a little over six pounds and I feel great even though my back is still in bad shape; I do se a physiotherapist regularly.

Yes, as the new year continues, many of us are now one month in. I plan on being in for the rest of the year as well. Thanks for helping me take myself back down to the treadmill. Best wishes on the first tri.
