Hi ANg!
Welcome from another Aussie mum (In Melbourne) - yes, making the time is a challenge - with work etc etc etc - it's my "down time", as far as training goes, some weeks are better than others!
Keep training and just do what you can when you can - enjoy!

Hey Ang, welcome from a NSW'er! I tell you its hard enough finding the time as a married man with no children, let alone as a mom! ... full of admiration for them thats for sure. Good luck with your run training.

Welcome to the nut house Ang! Hang in there, the running gets easier (well, maybe not more FUN...but easier). I was in the same boat, loved the swimming and biking, hated the running part. Now after a full season it's lots more tolerable and I'm starting to enjoy it more. Good to have new faces on board here, look forward to reading your posts!

Welcome!  Time is a huge issue!  I have a 2 y/o, work full time, take 2 classes per semester for a PhD, and train for tris.  Basically, I moved most of my workouts to early morning, and long stuff to early morning weekends.  I hire babysitters on occasion.  My husband is very helpful, but he wants to do a 1/2 IM next year, so it will be even more challenging!  basically if you stop sleeping, you'll have plenty of time - lol - it just seems that way.

Welcome to the asylum.  Lots of great advice and people here - who will always be there with advice and motivation when training gets hard.

Can't help with the training and being a Mom - single, no kids and a guy. ;-)

All joking aside - Good luck training!

-Tim

my kids are 5 & 7, so a little easier to handle...just Hubbie works shift work, so any idea of routine training is out the door....

Gidday and welcome Ang [from one of your Kiwi mates]. We mums can do anything, so get out there and go for it! I'm a mum of 3 [ages 7, 8 and 12] and keep pretty busy most of the time. I don't always get to do what I want at the times I want but the key for me has been just getting out there and doing it when I can. If I have an hour between work and when the kids get home from school then I get out and go for a run then. Never mind that the house is a bomb site, the washing is still in the machine, the garden needs weeding and I really should think about preparing dinner now because I'm running around carting the kids everywhere after school. And if it is only 30 minutes then that is what I gratefully take. I try to look for opportunities whenever and wherever I can and let those unimportant things fall by the wayside. Good luck with your training and your upcoming races. Train hard, train safe. Cheers. Susan.
