What a party we will have. It's a great race. Very flat bike and run course. Lake is not so nice but you'll be in and out in less than 15 minutes. Even if you aren't from the Atlanta area or even Georgia for that matter, please come! Join in the BT fun.

Well, I guess I've got no excuse not too!

Now I just need to add the bike to the rest of my training schedule. That should be easier come next semester.

Awesome, Tom! (So you're tri-ing to get her hooked, huh?!) Would this be her first or is she planning others?

She is going to do a couple of triathlons this year. She's getting a bike for christmas and is excited to start her cross training (she already runs). Hopefully she'll be hooked.

The peachtree city tri comes equiped with local gradparents & siblings. It's a great setup for us. The other ones she does will put me in the brood watcher position.

BTW I ran and biked the course again Saturday, it sure is a nice race course.

I'm not real sure if it fills up quickly. An email was sent out to all those who have done it either this year or last (it's been around for 2 yrs.). I know it will sell out because last year it did. But how quickly, I'm not sure. Last year it sold out a couple weeks before the event.

I haven't registered yet b/c I haven't gotten my Christmas money yet. But I will here in the next couple weeks.

Question for all you folks that have done this one before. I have heard that the water in the lake is awful. High red mud content and stains everything that gets wet (clothing wise). Was this your experience?

I am toying with the idea of doing it. I don't have my planned races calendar with me. My real goal is a HIM towards the end of October.

All I remember was the lake was NASTY. They had a fountain/hose that you ran through but that didn't do much. I did the race in my swimsuit and I had to handwash it two or three times to get it cleaned. The straps are white; should say, WERE white and now they are not so white. Just don't wear your nicest tri stuff during this race and bring lots of handi wipes.

"My real goal is to have a HIM towards the end of October"... Is your wife pregnant? No, that would be 10 months from now. Trying?

If you do any race you have to do this one. We have designated it as the unofficail BT Southeast Regional sprint tri. so come join us. I don't remember the water being all that filthy. Motivated and Aims I know have made comments about the silt content, but I just don't rightly recall. I do recall a slipery clay bank that we had to slip down for the swim start and there would have been a good bit of silt there. But don't let a bit of grime keep you away.

Sounds like one to do! I guess now I need to buy more tri stuff so the the ONLY shorts I have won't be the nicest. I downloaded an application. I will confirm as soon as I check my schedule at home.

Now Bethany, maybe we are just REALLY practicing. That could work for that too(unlikely though). Is that TMI?

Don't make me say I am looking at the GF half in October....that would almost make me committed. Scary stuff!!

Actually, I do have an excuse not too: I went to register today, and it was full!

Because I'd like to do at least two tri's this year, I'll probably end up doing another of the Tri-Blue Sky events, more than likely the High Falls State Park.

Ya'll Take care-

I e-mailed the race director after I saw your post. I am registered but my wife is not and I wanted to secure her a spot. she replied that there are a number of participants registered, but the race is not close to being full.

When I clicked on Register Now! on Active.com earlier today, it said the race was full.

After going through the Tri PTC website to Active.com, registration is still open.

So, long story short, I'm in for real!

After reading this posting....I decided to register now to secure a spot. I will be closing my first year of tri events with PTC. Now I need to find some dough to register 4 more Tri-Park series -- I am already registered for the John Tanner State Park series -- closest to home, next too PTC.

It's the day before xmas eve -- still spots left. I am in!! ...... Ok, I really need to improve my running endurance!

Bethany -- found a date for the Silver Comet ride yet?

Alan, don't forget about the one in Lithia Springs at Sweetwater. I would not make this event your first but should not cost as much as the Tri the Park races. Re your running, watch those hills, especially DOWN hill as that is how I hurt my knee I believe. Also, you are doing leg exercises in the gym right?

Tony

Yes..I have been doing leg workouts at the gym. I think I need to concentrate each element per day. I usually warm up by taking a long swim (minimum 40 laps on a 15 yard pool--max 90laps) then I tansition to either threadmill run or biking and weight training for 30 minutes. Sometimes I end with a long swim also(if I did not start swim first).

Today I ran better. I am using my HRM watch for the first time. Makes a huge difference. Now that I have this new toy, I need to reformulate my workouts.

I will fit in Sweetwater Tri into my scedule when the registration opens. I have not seen the 2005 dates yet -- have you?
