Subject: Sprint training program!
Hello all. I've been here for about 4 months and I love this site.... great resources and lots of inspiration. With 4 months to go till my first sprint, I am going to complete the 16 week training program. I am able to complete the swim no problem, I can complete the run average pace is a 11 minute mile, the bike is ok, although I am terrified to bike around my home - no shoulders and the speeding is horrible. we just moved here and neighbors have told me that every year at 1 of the 3 entrances to our development there is always a hit and run accident with the biker being killed. Don't want to be in that group - so I have been riding at the YMCA on the stationary. Besides, Santa needs to bring me a bike before I can do road training. Will be seeking advice, inspiration and motivation - which I know you all provide on a daily basis.

One recommendation for a place to ride is to go to your LBS and ask about local cycling clubs - they will know the good/safe places to ride depending on your fitness and experience level. Sometimes the safest thing is to throw the bike in your car, drive out somewhere (and making sure to file a "float plan" with someone who is NOT going with you), and ride around there and then drive home. Good luck with your tri training!

Good luck to you and definitely find a safe place to bike. A stationary bike cannot give you the elements that you will experience in a race. Wind, sun and other people around you.

Good luck and have fun with the 16 week. I am actually starting the 20 week sprint program in the new year (I still am completing the couch to 5k)

I hope you find somewhere to do the biking.
