Subject: Looking to Buy (in NoVA): Tri/Road bike in the $250 range

I figure the best way to find a bike in NoVA is to ask here

Just getting back into the sport, and it's time to get a bike. This year's budget doesn't allow for anything new, so hoping that someone has a mostly-working, complete (likely older) bike that just doesn't fit into their lives anymore and needs a good home.

I am 5'10", so a 56 to 58cm frameset should work best.

Looking to pay around $250, but negotiable depending on manufacturer and component level.

I can pick up, or meet you somewhere, whatever is easiest for you.

My LBS can do repairs, so that's not a huge deal if there are some imperfections (paint doesn't need to be one of them.. bare metal can be sexy!)

Thanks guys!

Can't help you out, but have you checked Craiglist locally? There are also a couple of places that sell used bikes. Big Wheel Bikes in Arlington has used bikes sometimes (I'm sure their other locations do too).

Yeah, I check out Craigslist daily, but so far, no luck on my size.

I am trying to take advantage of the Javelin offer that Bear posted on the main boards, but so far, no luck getting ahold of Geoff or Dave.  Hopefully that will work out, the Parma with aerobars looks nice, and is only $225.

I'd say just be patient with Craigslist. I found a FANTASTIC tri bike for $370! I need to get a shorter stem but other than that it fits like a glove!

Also check the websites of all the local bike shops. Search the suburbs also, I found a few at the bike shop in lake ridge, I belive they had a QR for sale for awhile.

Washington Post classifieds never turned up much when I looked but never hurts to check.

Craigslist did have the most to choose from though in my search. Also check out some surrounding city craigs lists if you don't mind driving a bit to find a good deal.

Good luck.
