Subject: Meal Replacement Shakes
Hey all,

recently (about 2 months so far) i started doing meal replacement shakes and was wondering what everyones opinion is on it. Its Slimfast shake powder and i normally do that plus a bowl of oatmeal or cereal in the morning (smart start or some granola based stuff). Its not that i think im fat (although ive lost 5 lbs since the beginning of the year, but significantly bulked up with muscle mass) but i just like the fact that it has a lot of vitamins and nutrients in it. Does anyone have experience with Slimfast or should i go to something better? any help is wonderful. Thanks!!

How many calories do you want in a MRS? Slim Fast tends to have a lot of sugar in its products.

Post workout meal replacement:
1 scoop vanilla powder
1/2 cup dry oatmeal
1 sm to medium banana
1/2 c - 1 c frozen blueberries
1 c fat free milk
This meal is around 450-500 calories. You can skip the oatmeal and milk to save about 220 calories.

Yummy treat shake:
1 scoop vanilla powder
1 tbsp naturally more peanut butter
1 piece of 80 % cocoa dark chocolate
3/4 c of fat free milk
ice
This meal is around 400 calories and worth everyone!

Snacks:
1 scoop of vanilla powder
1 c of water
1 c of frozen blueberries or frozen fruit of your choice
This snack has around 150-200 calories depending on the fruit you choose.

I use vanilla whey powder, but you could definitely use soy if you like it better.

I'd second the concern about SlimFast. They have a lot of sugar and a unnecessary chemicals. I like Peaceful Planet Supreme Meal or Spiri-teen green veggie shake. They are dairy free (I know whey is a good protein source, but I'm allergic), have a good balance of protein and carbs and then I add a cup of frozen berries and a tbs of ground flax seed. The veggie shake is actually the tastier of the two.
