That's what I thought. There is a hill, not huge, but an incline, near me and I sometimes just ride or run up and down it for hill practice. I thought I was doing "hill repeats" but wasn't sure. Thanks!

Yes ma'am, those are hill repeats and great training, I might add.  Especially if you are going to encounter any hills in any races this season.  People will neglect them in training and by and large lament how the hills killed them during the race.  You are already a step ahead!  Great job.

  • Seriously, if you haven't incorporated hills into your training, it is a great functional strength building exercise.

    Just wanted to add that along with riding your bike down the hill, it's important to incorporate some kind of recovery. In the case of running hill repeats, the jog back down the hill might be the active recovery in between. Either way, make sure to put in some rest.

    Or in the case of downhill repeats (for running), you'd reverse steps 1 and 2.
