This sucks as I was really looking forward to this event as it is a short swim for a sprint and lnger bike and run. Oh well hopefully it will be back next year

This is what i have read so far haven't read Peninsula Runners site yet

The 22nd Annual Panorama Classic Triathlon has been cancelled for 2008. According to their website Peninsula Runners the event was cancelled for the following reasons:
# lack of a group who was willing to take personal financial risk
# lack of certainty with the pool and its renovations
# lack of certainty that there will be a paved route to the rec centre
# outdoor transition will be almost impossible with the construction
# North Saanich's concern with the routes and the potential to go back to the old route. The bottom line is East Saanich is a busy road and they receive many complaints from the public.

Those already registered will be reimbursed.
