Rachie, we'll get you in the lake. Don't you worry. You can come meet me at Seward Park once the weather warms up (whenever that is) and we'll swim the day away.

You can absolutely invite yourself! Why are you moving?

As the date gets closer and everyone figures out their arrangements for the weekend, we should definitely set up a time to meet!

Count me in when planning an OWS! Would love to join. Won't have a tri wetsuit until end of May, but have regular one I might be able to squeeze into

I need some OWS practice--hopefully some body of water is warm enough by the end of May in order to get some swimming in!!

At the event, we ought to do some swimming the evening beforehand to get used to the water/course etc.  We could all go grab some pasta afterward or something like that.  Lynne and I are carpooling and I am gonna work on getting her to work a short day so we can check out the course (even though it looks pretty much straight and flat) and enjoy the evening with other triathletes.  That's half of the fun if you ask me!!

Is everyone sticking to their training plans pretty well?

my "training plan" has been interesting. . since i'm still in college and between ski racing, being sick twice, for a total of about 3.5 week, a nagging shin, uhh, spring break. . and everything else, my training has been kinda all over. i like to get up to about 500-600 minutes a week, but its just hard with a constantly changing schedule. . i should be good for that oly though, the weather is starting to get to be good enough to bike in, and my shin is good on and off. . i hope may will be a big month of training (aside from moving and stuff!)!

Having a peep avatar is the 'punishment' for teams that didn't win the March challenge. Avatars will return to 'normal' on May 1!  Unless there is a loss in the April challenge, but strangely enough, I don't know what losers have to do for that one. I should check, I am a team leader!  (Go Mighty Moose!)  Challenges are a great way to stay motivated and meet other BTers.  Really fun, I recommend them!  You can find challenges in the "Challenge Me" thread.

Runrachierun,
Just a quick word of advice if I might, if you're ultra competitive, don't hold back, I made that mistake. I listened to other people who really stressed to me that I just needed to be happy crossing the finish line for my first race which led me to slack quite a bit in the run, which I really didn't need, because I had convinced myself I wasn't competitive, well, long story short, I missed 3rd place by 38 seconds. If you're competitive, embrace it, go for it. Just my opinion...

Hey-Liz and I were wondering if you were still on BT!  What races are you doing this year?

Hi all -

this is a GREAT race.  My first oly was this race last year and I will be back again this year.

I also did the sprint the year before.

If you want to read my race report....here it is.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=31400&year=2007&month=6&day=9

The bike is mostly flat...a bit like Lake Sam/Issaquah.  Run is totally FLAT>

See you out there.

Here we are one month and two days away from my very first tri. Why is it that I want to go home and eat chips and guacamole tonight?

i'm convinced that chips and salsa (maybe guac too) are a key staple of any diet. i go through phases of addiction with chips and salsa. . . mmm. .

It's Cinco De Mayo--the restaurants and stores want you to think that you need to have that tonight.  If you do, make sure you had your workout and drank your water!!  There's a low calorie margarita recipe on my mentor thread (Beth and Yanti's Manatees).

Wow, just over a month!  I need to get in the lake and practice wetsuit swimming and removal ASAP!  I think I am going to do the sprint tri in Elma on May 26 for practice.....

I'm addicted to avocados. I can't stop myself from avocados and all Mexican food. I've had it three times in five days and all I want is more!

Oh, I didn't realize that the Elma sprint was on Memorial Day itself! I might look into it!

I just looked at last year's results for elma and got a little indimidated! There weren't really any slowpokes doing it! Hmmm. I will keep considering!

I did successfully walk past the free nacho bar in the lobby of my building...opting instead for a ginormous salad, chicken teriyaki, and a hard boiled egg. Woo.

Elma looks like a really small race, probably tons of fun!  I am hoping the kid or kids will compete too.
