Subject: First Triathlon Bike

Hi,

 I am training for a marathon at the moment but am keen to try a triathlon over the summer. I have started looking at bikes and the following are in or around my price range

Giant SCR 2 '08 or Giant SCR 1 '08 or Giant SCR 1.5 '08

LaPierre S-Tech 400 '08

Specialized Allez Sport

Trek 1.5 (Is this a newer model of the Trek 1500?)

All the equipment looks pretty similar. Is there any brand which is considered better than the others? Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Which one fits you and feels the best?

Not sure about the LaPierre, but the other three brands are huge reputable manufacturers. None are "considered better than the others."

Oh, and none of these are "triathlon" bikes. Rather, they are all road bikes, though you could certainly do a triathlon on them.

Thanks. Yeah realise they are not triathlon bikes but reckon they are not a bad option for the first few times. Will try and get out on all of them before making a decision - the only problem is that no retailer stocks all of them, one is the distributor for Giant, one for Specialized etc etc
