Can that be right? I did my one and only sprint Tri at 15 years old somewhere in Alabama. The course was great - the facilites were nice (rustic, but nice) and the folks were very friendly. Unfortunately, they didn't have good volunteer support and the route was compromised. Some did half the bike, some did twice. There was no way to know who won!
This time around I think the folks at the "Tri the parks" series in Georgia have it right. I am headed out to the May 1 race in Carrolton. I have been building a running base for a couple of months and now I am beginning Tri-training in earnest. I am also dragging a couple of people kicking and screaming along with me.

I can hardly wait! Is it normal to obsess over this? As soon as I finish a workout I am longing for the next one!

Obsess? Now would any of us her who spend uncountable hours on this board thinking about, talking about, learning about, and dreaming about our next (or previous) tri think we were obsessed? No, no, no. No obsessions here.

Welcome, and good luck in having fun and success in you tri.

I think it's very normal to obsess over triathlons... especially your first one in that long. I am so glad you've found yourself some fans.... my family love to go to these things and cheer me on- i feel like a super star when they're out there screaming my name. it's a great feeling! PLUS- obsession only comes when you've truly made this a goal! lots of luck and welcome back to the sport!

It's great that you're getting back into it.  Having your own cheering section not only will help with motivation during the race, but accountability during training (they'll ALL ask how's training going!)

Welcome back to the sport. Just be thankful that you have friends joining you, albeit kicking and screaming all the way. Everone I know thinks I'm goofy for even wanting to do a tri; most of them think that participating in sports is to get a beer, flop on the couch, and watch it on television. It is okay to be a bit obsessive about it, just don't get to the point that you do yourself more harm than good...there is such a thing as to much of a good thing! Just don't exercise "through the pain."

Who's obsessed??? Just because I seem to have posted over 100 times to this forum in less than a month?? Not me!! :-)

I hear the kicking and screaming part. I and a friend of mine have been dragging 2 reluctant triathletes around with us for the past year. At a race called the Wildflower (where the only accommodation is camping) we dragged several people with us to just cheer us on.

It rained.

A lot.

:-)

Think I'll be able to get them to come this year???

Dana
