I did it last year. It was a decent race. I thought it was well run, there was decent spectator support, pleanty of aid stations, swim was nice and calm last year (for Lake Michigan), etc...

The only two negative's that I can recall are:

- the bike course was really rough, there are pot holes and cracked pavement for almost the entire course. You'll need to be careful or you can easily get a flat or caught in a groove in the pavement.

- The parking lot is a good 3/4 of a mile to a mile away from transition and the finish line. If you have small kids it may be a long walk for them to come watch.

Other than that I would recommend it. It's a good prep race for any upcoming Olympic distances you may be doing.

I did it a few years ago. I thought it was well run. I have it on my mental list to do again someday.

I know people who like long races but will pass them up to do that one. I heard it very well done and I been told I need to do it but with SOR that weekend I have to go with SOR.

I did it last year, double flatted after hitting a pot hole. It was my first triathlon, so I "ran" back to T2 after ditching the bike in the sag wagon, and finished the race. Despite the rough pavement, I enjoyed it and am doing it this year too.

So what do you all think...Harbour Lights or Spirit of Racine, WI? They are both the same weekend and I'm trying to decide which one to do.

I did HArbor Lights a couple times. It was my first tri - 2003. I didn't realize the run was 4 miles and i went out too fast. Rookie mistake. I was a little disappointed that the dates coincided with racine the past few years. HL is a nice race and really well organizzed.
