Yes, this happens to women. It's called, sports bras with seams. WTF?

So it looks like tight shirts for you. Have you tried the dry tech/cotton blends? Or the drytech that is like soft cotton? I've been using a ski long-underwear shirt as a dry tech for years and it's like silk.

A judicious application of BodyGlide, SportShield, or Nip Guards would also probably do you good.

You are definitely not unique with this issue.  This topic pops up periodically.  Try BodyGlide on your nipples or band-aids.  I'm sure some others will throw in their suggestions.

BTW, for me it tends to be the opposite with cotton versus synthetic fabrics.  When cotton gets sweaty and weighted down, clingy, it will rub me raw.  I haven't ran in cotton for years and rarely ever have the nipple issue these days.

You don't get it when cotton gets wet?  Oi, the worst.

Anyway, several options, primarily Body Glide on the nips.  Can also use tape (the white medical tape works well), nip guards (yes, they actually make them), etc etc.

Body glide or bandaids.
