I got the same email, and I'm considering getting a Vortex 2...

Anone care to share your impressions of the suit?

I currently have a QR full suit (probably about 2003/2004 vintage, not sure which model, but not the top of the line) that I've been very happy with, but is a bit too big for me now.

Can anyone compare/contrast QR/Xterra suits?

The first tri I did I rented a Vector Pro 2 and I thought I was completely awesome. I have only tried a couple others to compare against but I still like it best. Is there any difference between this one and the Vortex 2? None of the shops near here carry Xterra suits that I can find. This sounds like a great deal.

Since this sale is still on for a couple days, just wanted to point out that Xterra has changed their sizing chart as of the past few days (since I placed my order, unfortunately). It affects mostly some of the men's sizes. But I've had to exchange a 2008 Vortex 2 for the next size up as they based the fit on the size chart they had on the site at the time (which is still posted in the Xterra catalog up on the site)...had they used the new one, I'd have been in the size I'm exchanging for and saved the hassle. If you're thinking of ordering, be sure to look at the chart they have up on the "Sizing" page and NOT the one in their "Catalog" section, which is the old chart.

(On the plus side, I ordered a suit from their "outlet store" selection online and they upgraded me to a new Vortex because they were out of my size in the discontinued suit...very nice and quite unexpected. And they've been great about getting my replacement suit turned around quickly.)

Nope...that's actually the one I ordered (in a medium) that they couldn't fulfill (even though they had the size as being available on the site when I ordered).

Hey, give it a shot...maybe they'll be out of your size too and give you the no-charge upgrade I got...

TYVM for the heads up on that one. I always have trouble with sizing wearbles over the Internet.

I also dislike sizing through the internet. I just bought an Xterra wetsuit through the sale. Of course, I bought the wrong size and am now sending it back to exchange to a new size.

i recently purchased the vortex 2 with the discount and was called today and informed that they were on back order until may. but they offered me a USAT revolt. http://usatriathlonwetsuits.com/revolt.htm
was wondering 1. should i take the offer. its 50 dollars more than the vortex 2 and its a free upgrade. but is it an upgrade. i have never heard of USAT. i need the expertise of BT.
2. should i just wait until may for the vortex 2.

Are they charging you more, for certain? I'm not certain, but I think it's the same suit, just re-branded for USAT (I mean I'm certain it's an Xterra suit, just not sure whether the Revolt is the Vortex 2 or if the Atomic is...based on price and picture, it looks like the Revolt is equivalent to Vortex)...same thing happened to my wife with her Vortex 2 order and they just swapped out for the USAT-branded suit for same price. (Heck, they swapped me from a 2007 Ventilator on clearance at $147 for a 2008 Vortex 2 for no charge because they ran out of the Ventilator in my size.)

Yeah...just re-read your post and missed the "free" part of "free upgrade". Take the deal...same suit. You just have to be okay with having "USAT" all over you....

The same thing happened to me. They were out of the Xterra in my size, but sent me the USAT in it's place. I received it last week and couldn't be more pleased. It fits me like a glove. I took it for a test swim in the ocean last weekend and it was great. I am using it for my first Tri on Sunday. I thought the customer service at Xterra was very great. They went above and beyond to help me with sizing. Overall very pleased with my USAT. As I understood it, the USAT was simply a rebrand of and identical to their Xterra line.

Just ordered the Vortex John. I've swam in a wetsuit before and didn't feel very comfortable in the full so I'm hoping the sleeveless will be better. We'll see! The waters are still cold up here in MA, but I'm eager to get out for an OWS.

They actually called me last night and told me the suit I ordered is on backorder so they sent out an upgrade today. They were very nice about it and obviously I am happy because it is a big upgrade at no extra cost.

I believe the rubber is different as well. They upgraded my Vortex 2 to the USAT Revolt. The Revolt uses Yamamoto SCS rubber as does the Xterra Vector Pro.
