Does anyone else have issues with swim caps not fitting?  The races I have done (2) have had one size fits all - but they didn't fit me...I thought I was going to pass out from the constriction. Any secrets?  Even if I find one that fits (not that I have looked) I don't think I can bring my own to most races...ideas anyone?

Most of the races I see, have different colored caps for each wave.

So even if you bring your own swim cap, chances are small that it would match the color of your wave.

You could always try to contact the race director prior to the race and explain your issue and see if he/she would allow you to wear a silicone swim cap in the specific color for your wave... ?

Same issue for me,, photos of me coming out of the water without a swim cap on show a huge indentation from the cap.. the only thing that I've tried is to once I get it to really start stretching it out before hand and that has helped some...

I couldn't find it in my first minute on google so I am convinced that it is no longer available, but I have seen a video of 4 people holding the edges of a swim cap and pulling it up and down in the pool to let the water stretch it. On the last big pull up, another person jumps in and fits his whole body into the swim cap.

I think if you try this method of letting the water stretch your cap that even by yourself, you should be able to get it big enough for at least your head.

Silicon caps and latex caps issued by the race are somewhat small and yes they are one size. Lots of people need a bigger cap. The biggest ones are the bubble caps. They are available in head sizes, try a large or regular. They come in all kinds of colors with white or yellow you will be good for most waves.

see http://www.geocities.com/lapswimr/coldwatercaps.htmlfor info and links to places that have them

Do swim caps ever really fit or feel comfortable?

You definately can't bring your own.  Stretch it out ahead of time is the only advice I can think of.

I wonder if you heated it in some hot water or in the dryer for a few minutes if it would stretch out for you. I remember reading that people put their new tires in the dryer for a bit to get them to stretch over the rims easier.

I don't really know. Just a thought.
