I'm bib # 10188

From the e-mail I just received:

Live Race Day Runner Tracking!
================================

- Searchable Results allows friends and family to track their runners and follow the progress of the race leaders. Information from each split location is provided as well as the runners pace through the most recent split location and their projected finish time. Upon completion of their race this tool also provides the runners with unofficial race results including placement by gender, division, etc.
- Map Track allows spectators to track their runners live on a course map via their Bib # as they run the 2008 ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon. Runners' position on the course will be displayed on your computer in real-time along the course map using their latest pace data. A status bar keeps track of the runner's progress and is updated with new pace information every time a runner crosses a split location. It's the next best thing to being at the event!

To take advantage of these exciting Race Day tools please click on the following link on Sunday March 30th - <http://www.inggeorgiamarathon.com/Race_Info/Race_Day_Results_and_Tracking.htm>
Or visit the ING Georgia Marathon website and click on the Race Day Results and Tracking Tab.

How about #18110 ?

I think that puts me in the "Masters Retirement Home Walker-Aid" category.

Oh, well. It's my first non-triathlon organized race so I'm just looking forward to the experience.

You may be right, but my money says we'll be having beers before you!  How about them apples.

Let's see. If I do the math, your half projected at 2:25, subtracted from my full, projected around 3:35, gives you one hour and 10 minutes, minus the inevitable beer around mile 20 of the course.. so subtract 50 minutes.. that gives you 20 miutes to get to a beer. Since you'll be waiting on others to finish.. (since they will all be post 2:25) combined with your recovery stretching, I'll take that bet.
Legal: All times projected are not guaranteed, nor are they accurate.

Let's see. If I do the math, your half projected at 2:25,

I had some good sprint work this week, so I'm going for 2:23.  That gives me 2 more minutes to find a bum and give him $20 to get me a beer while stretching.  See...I've thought this through...

"The new ING bib numbers are here!  The new ING bib numbers are here!"

"Meh, I wish I could get this excited about running nothing"

"Nothing? Are you kidding? - My bib number is: 15937.  I'm somebody now! Millions of people Thousand of people will look at the Map Track page! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity - my number in print and a little tracking icon - that makes people. I'm going to be in print a little blinking thing! Things are going to start happening to me now."

OK...enough ala "The Jerk."  I laughed when I read this part of the email:

The race is around the corner and soon all your training will pay
off!

Uh, yeah, "all" of my training started off OK, but then it hit a bus called CO; my beer-drinking arm/hand is in good shape though, so I'll compete with the best of them at Mile x when the beer flows like wine...

;)
