Brickey - 2008-05-28 4:51 PM The time trial start last year was for everyone - no choice. The timing mat (if I recall correctly) was on the grass right next to the sidewalk. So, you had to run into the water after you crossed the timing mat. They sent people across the mat 5 seconds apart.

Thanks Dave.

I was reading up on how to dolphin in the water and I was considering trying it come race day.  Upon furthur consideration though I think it would be incredibly dumb to do it on race day and possibly injure myself before even starting the race, hehe.  Thoughts?

Conventional wisdom says, "Don't do anything new on race day."  That includes starting off with your shoes clipped in, dolphin diving, and tabasco eggs for breakfast.

I'm going to spend some time on Saturday practicing it though.  The lead in to the water is pretty shallow, I'm thinking it'll take about ten steps, if that, then a dive and just swim.  If I was dolphin diving, I'm guessing it would be about 7 steps, a couple dives, then swim.

I'm more concerned about keeping my goggles on for one dive, than I am multiple dives.

Since I was going to be out of town all weekend before the race, I was having second thoughts about dragging around the canopy tent.  It turns out I'll be driving seperate from the wife and kidlets, so I grabbed it out of the warehouse this morning.  Its approximately 10'x10', white top, and will have a purple alien attached to it somehow.  A BT sign or banner would be cool, but I don't have one.

The alien is partial to trix though, so if you see him making his move, give him some space okay?   ... get it, space?  hardy harr.....

I don't have any plans to have a guard standing by, but if you want to drop any crap at the tent, feel free.  Family and friends are invited too.  I'm just putting it up as an easily recognizable meeting place.

Thanks for taking the lead on this - it will be great to meet (or meet again) all the BTers.

I'll shoot for 6:30 too, that'll give me some wiggle room in case I screw up the driving or something!  See you there.

I plan to be there about 0600. Also, my father lives about 3/4 mile from the park, so if parking is bad a few people could park at his house and walk/ride over there. I plan to just park there and ride over.

Raining today...not sure it'll help the temp...we can hope though...I'm still without a wetsuit so every degree it goes up is a plus!

It's supposed to be a warm rain though - near 80 today. Lows only in the mid 50's next 2 nights (why am I so happy about that) - as opposed to 30's. So there is hope.

Good luck to everyone! I won't be doing this one - but I am planning to come watch just to see what it's like as I've never been to a triathlon.  I'll be there with my husband and two little girls - maybe I'll run into some of you.  It'd be fun to meet some local triathletes!

This is my first tri ever, so I'll be getting there at 6-6:30 to leave myself some cushion to get things set-up and rolling.

See you all before and/or after the race!
