If anyone is interested, I would be willing to take all interested parties on a tour of the Saguaroman/Xterra run course next Saturday.

I would, only if you carry me on your shoulder. I brusied my foot the last time I was out there two weeks ago and its still not healed. Were doing the ride course on the 12th, after that its rest for the next two weeks.

I do have a question though, is T2 at the ranch or in the bus parking lot for the river rafting?

Andy if you are still planning on being out there tomorrow I forgot I have an 18er this weekend. I personally think you should take it easy this weekend as it is but knowing you you'll probably go out!

Milton, I am no help, sorry!

I hiked it after doing the swim course. Showed one of my training partners the run course.

After the you cross the bush highway there are some different forks and without the course markings it is hard even for me at some spots to follow the course and I have been on it multiple times.

Just after the bush you go up a sandy area that is a little like an arroyo. Then you climb up the trail. And I mean climb as it is hard to run up this section. Then you get to run down a little bit and it weaves around then down some more. Really hard to describe... but then you go up an incline and turn left going up to a dirt road and you turn around about 1/4 mile up the road and run back down then to the arroyo that eventually goes through a tunnel under the road.

Then you go back up the Saguaro Ranch Resort road to the Bush Highway... down to the water users park then back to the Saguaro ranch resort on a dirt path that includes river rocks.

Based on your knowledge, how much slower do you think the pace will be?

Also,  is there much room to pass (or be passed) ?

Pace is probably a little over a minute slower or so. It is mostly single track but people have always let me get by when passing.

Sounds good. I thought that discribing the trail would be tricky. I really should have had done the pre-run portion. Im a slow runner on flat ground so I except a 1:30 min on the run, so if I see riorio on the run i ll direct you in. I really think the last two road climbs on the bike are going to kill me.

So whos all doing this anyway?

I'll be there - it will be easy to pick me out - I'll be the one with a circle of kayaks following me like vultures as I straggle in on the swim!

I'll be doing this xterra for the 2nd year... The mtn bike portion is all double track, a little boring IMHO. There are two sections of hike-a-bike, one if you can clean steep sections, the other is wayyyy to steep and rocky to clean it all.

The run is a lot of fun I'll be the one with the absurd tan lines from my bike jersey. I might pass a few of you roadies since you start before us on the run or the swim

Does anyone know where spectators/family can go to watch the event?  The athlete instructions are clear, but if there is no parking at T1 or T2, where are spectators supposed to go?  Also, does anyone know if regristration packets can be picked up on Saturday morning?  They state that bikes can be dropped off either Friday evening or Saturday, but don't mention whether packets can be picked up on Saturday before the event.  Since Saguaro Lake is about 1.5 hours from where I live, I would prefer to only make one trip this weekend.  I wrote the race director, but haven't received a response.  If anyone has some information, it would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hey, all.  I talked to the RD, and wanted to let everyone know that 1) speactators can drive to the start area, T1, and within 1/4 mile of T2 and the finish, so they will be able to follow along with the entire event.  2)  For those who can't make it to Tribe today or to the Lake tomorrow, registration packets can be picked up on Saturday morning - be there early.  Se you there!

The first time I ran this race I had my Puma Tri-Socks on and they worked out fine for all but the river rock. I ended up with a little bit of soreness in my foot.

Any running shoes that have decent traction will work. I'll have my orange puma's on. Trail shoes wouldn't hurt but mine are heavy.

ALSO MAKE SURE YOU GET A TONTO PASS BEFORE YOU GET UP THERE.

You can pick one up at the gas station on power road just before you head up the Bush Highway.

I originally was planning on doing this race, but I got tired just driving the bike course. So I'm skipping it for Bartlett lake next weekend.

Bartlett has tougher hills than Saguaro. I rode at Bartlett a few times while training for Silverman.
