Hiya, I was just wondering if anyone was planning on doing the Seafair Triathlon or the STP this year?

I am considering both of them, although I don't know that I have enough time to get the training done for STP....but I haven't ruled it out (unless registration is closed, then I won't be doing it).  I hear the Seafair Tri is fun, so I may do that.  I plan to sit down with the NW Competitor events issue and my calendar and actually make a realistic race plan. I am doing an Oly June 7 and hopefully at least one more after that.

What's your plan?

I'm signed up to do Seafair as my very first Tri. I've never been a super competitive or athletic person so this is all very new to me. Is this your first?

SeaFair was my first tri... back in 1984. Huge race then. I was in the second-to-last wave (no rhyme or reason to the waves other than registration order). Something like 1100 people doing the race.

I'll be skipping this one, though. Just too big. Huge events like these just don't hold any allure to me, as far as racing them. Great spectator event though.

I'm doing all of the Seafair events (Half mary, tri, and Torchlight Run). I'm excited about the tri, because it looks like a lot of fun.

Good luck!

The Seafair 2005 Triathlon was my first.....ahhh it was so great. Everyone was so friendly. It was so cool to see so many other crazy people who trained for months then woke up at 3 am to jump into Lake Washington. The volunteers were awesome - and there was a ton of free goodies!

I am doing the Tom Whales 5K, Flying wheels Sumemr Century, Lake Padden Triathlon, STP, and the Seafair Triathlon. My busiest season ever. I can hardly wait!

Nat, I will see you at the Tom Wales 5k next weekend. I am really out of shape from a month of vacationing and not working out!

Did STP last year for the first time and had a great time. I opted for the one day ride and loved it.

My avatar pic is from somewhere in SW WA during STP last year. I will definitely be there again this year.

What was your time for the 1-day, and what was your average pace??

Is that how you got your screen name?  Ouch!

I'm sorry to laugh at your name, but Medusa's query about whether the name "soretaint" comes from 203 miles on STP just MADE MY AFTERNOON!

You didn't have to tell everyone you were laughing at my name!

Here's the deal for all to read: When I first started riding a couple years ago, I rode w/ my underwear on under my bike shorts! Hey.......I didn't know you were supposed to "free" things up a bit down there. I couldn't figure out why my "taint" was gettin' so sore until my brother pointed out this little bit of detail.

So..........now the whole world knows why my username is "Soretaint"

Since losing the "undies" under my bike shorts, I am happy to report that a "soretaint" is just a distant memory!

I'm doing the Seafair half mary. They just changed the course this year to go point to point -- Husky Stadium to Bellevue...which means that we get to run over the 520 bridge! Half mary's are surprisingly easier than you would think!

For those doing the Seafair Half... See you there? Will be my first half and my 8yr old is doing the Kids Marathon. STP would be a blast, looking to get that into the schedule. Still have to look at everything and see if the SeaFair Tri is an option...I live out in Kitsap County so it all is a bit of a trip (story of my life with tris).
