How about the glasses mounted type? I use them for training and they seem to work well. A friend of mine uses one on his bar end and he has to look down to check it, taking his eyes off the road.

See you Sunday or Saturday maybe. I have to attend the meeitng at 2 since I am a newbie...

I tried the on-the-glasses type last year and it didn't work out well for me - I hard a really difficult time keeping them adjusted and in place.

Thought I'd try something different this year.
Luckily my hearing is still somewhat intact and I still have good left side peripheral vision so I can get away without a mirror for vehicle traffic. it's the other cyclists that I don't hear fast approaching.

I don't know the tri regs.

I dropped the mirror 25 years ago by looking back under my arm pits and listing. Sure it can seem hazardous but so is riding on the road. Just got use to it give it a try.

I like CycleAware Reflex Mirror (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/Profile.cfm?SKU=847&item=00-0472&slitrk=search&slisearch=true).  You can take it off the helmet if you need to (or just don't want to look like a fred). I prefer this to taking my eyes off the road.
