Subject: Tempe International Tri - ESCKTC as a Club?
Has anyone registered for Tempe International yet? And if so are we ESCKTC peeps registering as club members? Just curious as I was thinking of doing the sprint again and was wondering if we are part of the Club Championship

Did you read the rules yet Josh?  I have not, but I am wondering if they require that you be a "REAL" club with all that official business crap as part of it.

I have registered and YES, I put down that I was in the "East Side Cool Kids Triathlon Club".

The registration form didn't ask what KIND of tri club, only if you were in one.

I wrote the race director and this is what was replied:

"From :Jonathan Grinder
A club is a group of people who get together to train and race. There is no "official" designation needed. However, a club can not be put together for the purposes of this race only. We don't want people getting together just ot win the club championships."
Jonathan Grinder
Tucson Racing"

I think this reads that ESCKTC is "real" in the eyes of Tucson racing!

I did the same on my registration.

Looks like you guys are golden then! Sweet!!!

I will be out of town, so no race for me!  Someone else will have to wear the man pants in my absence.

This would require me to sign up, to earn the club a coveted point.

I'm still on the fence on that.

Or Delta could go under like so many other airlines lately and you could slip on a bib for the day!

Anything is possible Jerry.  My crappy bike will be there, though.  A friend of a friend is borrowing it while I am out.

OK well maybe I will do the race as a sprint for this reason, if you are already registered BE SURE to tell the RD you are with a club! REMEMBER you PAY for these races (ALOT) so its cool. Yeah there is no way we will win or anything but its kinda funny!!!

OH PJ makes a good point are people putting down ESCKTC or East Side Cool Kids Triathlon Club?

Will it help if I register with the club? Will you lose points if I am slow. ;>P

By the time of the tri I will have been a part of a few OWS.

You earn a point for participating. You earn additional points for placing in your age group, etc.

I am confident, that if I choose to enter the race, I could get the club a point.

whalers34 - 2008-04-17 9:33 AM I didnt put anything down for Club, do you think I could add it when I pick up my race packet? I already bugged the race director once to change my OLY to a Sprint...I dont want to bug him again...

Looks like yes, "the club" can make changes to the list of their members participating up to 7 days before the event as a 1 time change.  The athletes can change their club affiliation up to close of registration (the day before or morning of I think)

From the rules web page someone else put a link for in this thread, note the two sections I underlined:

Club Rules:

Entries
1)       Athletes are responsible for their own entries.  No entries will be accepted from a club or club representative.

2)       A roster of all club entries will be sent to all clubs (or posted on the website) 10 days before the event.  If there are changes, club representatives may submit only one change list.  Change lists are due 7 days before the event.  After that no changes will be accepted except from the athlete entered into the event.

3)       The club list will be posted at registration the day before the event.  At close of registration absolutely NO changes will be allowed by either athletes or clubs.  The club list will be final for scoring purposes.  It is the responsibility of the athlete to check his or her entry and to request correction if necessary.

I don't think I put it down, but if someone is turning in a list, they may feel free to add me.

whalers34 - 2008-04-17 1:57 PM Thanks!  I will contact the race director and have him add it.  But now we need to answer Sporty's question...do we put "ESCKTC" or "Eastside Cool Kids Tri Club" as our club name?  Because my guess is they wont know that it means the same thing.

I did not spelled it out on my Oly registration (ESCKTC), rather used the abreviation.

I think I'm calling a personal moratorium on Tempe races for a little while. I'll be there in the "Changing tent" cheering you all on.

I'm about 90% out. My ITB reared its ugly head on Wednesday at mile 6.5 (mile 11 for the day) and I've got to try to baby it so I can run Deuceman.

I hope to make at least one bike ride with the group, but the month of May redefined fugly for me.
