Sounds like there are some new bikes out there. What did everybody get?

My wife gave me four Benjamins to put towards a bike purchase, and advised that a Polar heart rate monitor is on its way. My parents gave me a copy of Swim, Bike, Run.

From one of my sons I got a new Terry Butterfly saddle and a new bike computer Cat Eye Astrale 8 is on the way. I tried out my new saddle tonight while watching TV with my kids. Oh man...it makes such a difference...wow it is much more comfortable.

My other son bought me a new MP3 player that is so tiny and can hold up to 16 hours of music (in case I excercise that long he told me..is he an optimist or what). It is a Creative muVo N200.

My oldest daugther Emily who is 10 bought me two different water bottle holders. One tradtional one and then one that holds two water bottles behind my seat. My husband can't figure out if I can use it since it attaches to a seatpost which I don't have since I ride a Softride.

My kids have a paper route and saved and bought all the gifts with the money they earned. They all wanted to help their Mom be better and enjoy excercising more. How cool is that!!

Back in late October my husband bought me my new Softride which was an all inclusive gift.

I got a Felt F80 with a fall included at no extra charge , a high visibility jacket so I can be seen as I tip over on my bike, a "Life is Good" running cap and a water thingie that goes under my bike seat-it is rather mysterious.

I also got this hat from my parents for runs in the cold weather:

I made out like a bandit this year, too. Mp3 player, some great reflective running pants/tights and jacket, a training log, the book Chi Running, and some power gels to try on those long runs.
Guess I have no excuse now not to get off my lazy @ss and jog off some of that turkey.

Let's see....

*A gift certificate to I-tunes so I can update my music collection for training.
*DH got me a new earpiece for my Mp3 player, mostly because it worries him that the earphones I have block out too much of the street sounds and it's not safe. So, it was kind of a sweet "please be safe" present.
*swim goggles with my vision-correction, also from DH. He loves his.
*Triathlete magazine -which seems pretty intimidating, actually!
* some workout clothes

I think I'm forgetting some things. There were other "healthy-type" presents, like a George Foreman grill. These are related to triathlons, but in a kind of roundabout way.

OH!!!! And the best one!!! My " I train with my friends at beginnertriathlete.com" shirt came on Christmas Eve. I put it under the tree. Thanks, Ron!

(1.) Giant TCR Aero 2 w/ Look pedals and Shimano shoes;  (2.) Yakima hitch mount bike rack for transporting the bike; (3.) Tanita Scale and Body Fat Analyzer; (4.) Weather station with indoor/outdoor temp and forecast icon; (5.) more Under Armour training gear; (6.) Front End Cover (Bra) for my car (to protect it on trips to races and back to school in IL); and (7.) Misc. clothes and also some Simpsons gifts (including a dancing singing Homer Claus).

All in All a very good Christmas considering the Bike was the only thing on my list.  Now I just have to go out and pick up some accessories to go with the bike.

Most of my family does not understand this "weird" obsession of mine, but my husband and I (who are training together) got each other the new XM Myfi radios for those long training runs and rides. I also got some cool bike socks. I got my husband a training log. I wish we could get the family clued in. Enough Yankee candles and DVD's!

I got a cool Running Room single bottle hydration belt/mini fanny pack. Going to give it a test run on my long run this week - has to be easier than carrying the bottle in my hand.
