a few days ago you sent me a link (when I asked about your cool avatars) and of course I can't find it now. Can you post it here? there are others who would love to see it as well. Thanx!

Ellen, part of the "no avatar crowd"

I put up a picture of myself in my natural habitat.  My wife says I am built like a Q-tip.  What do you think?

I tried it with another avatar and now I can't seem to change it. I can delete it, but when I input a new one, the old one always appears. Is there a waiting period before you change avatars?

yes , me and wrybosome have been going rounds with that issue....i went to this forums software board and they tell me that u must:

delete the pic, wait 5 to 10 minutes (or the next day) for the cache memory to clear THEN upload your new pick.

i havent heard from wrybosome yet, let me know if that works.

Yes, NancyTris,  studious indeed.  And if you are clever with the Internet you can find what I study.  This is like a treasure hunt.  You will know you are there if you find the same photo.   Google doesn't work too well because Thomas Wilson is a bit too common.

Gathering from your e-mail address, I would have to guess that you are faculty/staff at the Georgia Institute of Technology. But then, a search yielded something about NASA and the Johnson Space Center. Astrophysics maybe? Then again, my name isn't Nancy.

To install an avatar, you need to upload the picture in "Profile Image" at the bottom of the Control Panel. The image must not be greater than 5k in size I believe or 50x50 bits. If you ahve uploaded an image an wish to change it, you must first delete the existing image. You must then allow the forum to "flush" your old image from its system. After about 10 minutes you can install your new avatar image. I think that should cover it. Otherwise, try using a hammer.

just a tip that i have found on adding pics.... unless it is just me. if you go to add a pic and it wont take it the first time, delete the current pic, then delete all your cookies and temp internet files, then close explorer, then log back in and go to the control panel, then add the new pic. that is the only way i can change pics. Jack.

alrighty, since we have already decided I have too much time on my hands, I found our very own tech_geezer, home in his lab. He is an aerospace engineer, studying fuel injection, at Georgia Tech as we knew from his email address in his profile.

Tom, I hope you don't mind that I posted that, I suppose it could be removed later if you do. But you did issue the challenge! LOL

TriMom, you are a Winner!  And a Birthday Girl!  And a computer whiz.  For which you receive our grand prize of ..... a warm fuzzy feeling that you trounced the rest of this sorry bunch.

Actually, I am a mechanical engineer but my research on fuel injection is in the AE Combustion Lab.
