Anyone heard of or done this race before? Comments?

I like the idea of a different distance to mix things up and have a buddy who lives in Clearlake so I would have free lodging and only have to drive down there and back.

I'm considering it but haven't signed up yet. This is a new race, but the RD (Sommer Sports) has a great reputation. Should be fun.

Very interesting!  I live very close to the site and in fact was just at the park over the weekend.  Certainly makes it very inviting to be this close.  Thinking about this.  The distances are odd but not so far out for me.  Still thinking......

weird distances.. but since it's about 3 miles from my house I'll most likely do one of them.

I saw a thread on ST where the race director was asking opinions of the distances. It appears that he's trying to do the 101 thing, sort of, by developing a standard for his races. Where I see the difference is that these distances, though unconventional, will appeal to many. By offering a super sprint, a long sprint and a longer than oly, he hits everything from the beginner to a sprint racer who might like to try something a little longer to the longer distance athlete. His distances make more sense to me than the 101 series did and will have a broader appeal. And, I think he's smart by just doing his thing without trying to create a new standard in the sport.

That short course will be awesome for those getting ready for an Oly...say at the HiFi. Count me in!
