Subject: how to apply rim tape?
I've got a new pair of HED clincher wheels(bike porn post will come soon, I swear ) and they have no rim tape. I've never put on rim tape before and it seems pretty straight-forward, but I thought I'd ask on here before I did the install. Is it as simple as applying the tape, or are there tricks to it that I'm not aware of?

Make sure to get the valve hole as close to perfect as possible. Makes sliding the presta through much easier and enlarging with a razor knife is a PIA.

Overlap the end about 1/2" and don't try to butt joint it where the piece meets itself.

Use Velox brand tape. Buy the correct width as it comes in road and MTB varieties.

Dude, it is SO easy. You hand it over to the cute guy at the LBS, while twirling your hair with one hand and say "can you do this for me?" Cut him a sideways glance - he'll give it special attention.

If you're talking about trispokes, I'm not even sure rim tape is needed. May be wrong, and it certainly won't hurt to have it in there.

Somehow I think my wheels would come back broken if I tried this.

Its super easy... its just tape. I almost dont see how you could screw it up? As was stated, just start at the valve hole, start wrapping, and then overlap about 1/2" or so... voila! taped.

X3, no spoke holes = no rim tape.

On mndiver's and someone else's suggestion, however, I did put a little strip over the etched in serial number and around the valve hole.

I think that's grounds for 'justifiable homicide' in Dallas. Well, outside of the Oaklawn/Cedar Springs area.
