Subject: Strange Knee Pain.

I can run, swim, bike and do just about anything with no trouble or discomfort at all and no soreness after the work out.

the "pain" is in the out side of the left knee. If feels like if you have a very bad and dry scab and when you over extend the skin around it it rips and starts to bleed or if you have a very bad sun burn and your wearing jeans (when I first felt it I thought it was something on the inside of my pants.)

It only seems to be brought on when I have my knee bent in a crouch and then move from side to side from there.

Any ideas on what this might be?

Sounds like an IT (iliotibial) band issue.

Read up on that (google, etc), and if it is and it just happened recently, keep it well iced for a few minutes several times for the first 3 days. Maybe see a sports therapist (a 1-time visit should be good enough)

Get a foam roller and roll a couple times a day.

Take it very easy for a couple weeks.

I had an IT band issue after my first marathon at the beginning of March and I had to be sidelined for 4 weeks. It seemed like it was never going to end, but it did eventually. But you gotta take it easy.
