Hi everyone -

Well, the plan was to start training for a May 1 Sprint Tri startin today...but a broken arm has put a slight delay in things, good thing I started early. Will not be able to swim until probably mid feb or march, unless I can work out a cheap solution with the doctor. But until then, I'll keep spending a lot of time on this site preparing my mind, chaning my diet and doing other cardio training and some leg lifting. I'm 24, and did one Sprint Tri in Australia last year...basically going in unprepared...so I'm real pumped to see a big improvement after properly training this time!

Happy New Year to All!

Hey Scott, welcome to BT. Always good to see a fellow Texan around here. Sorry to hear about your broken arm. I definitely know how frustrating it can be. I shattered my elbow in a bad car wreck back in 2000. I did lots of walking since I couldn't run, and it was awhile before I was able to swim, but it will all pass. Anyways, good luck with the healing and training.

Always good to here from a Texan. My son broke his arm last year. You will be amazed how fast it heals and is ready to go.
Good luck with your training.

Hiya Oz!!

So what race are you planning on?  Is it one in the metroplex?

Sorry to hear about your arm.  Hopefully you didn't break it while training.  And what were you doing in Australia last year??  How did you get to here?

Kristen

I'm doing the one sponsored by the Baylor Hospital in Dallas. The new details aren't up on their site yet. But a friend of mine that works there let me know about it...this is the link from last year...

If I compete well, I plan to continue my training from there and compete in the Olympic Distance Tri on 9/24...in Pilot Point...but one goal at a time.

Broke while snowboarding...hopefully, I don't break in again when I return to snowboarding in mid-Feb...just about the time the cast comes off

Aussie was amazing and such a spirit for fitness and the outdoors. Went there through work, which is what also took me to Minneapolis and now Texas. It's been great fun to meet people and see difference areas...and I love the Texas Two Step!

Scott

Awww heck....I'm going to Colorado on Thursday to snowboard for the first time (and meet COgirl!!).  I hope I don't suffer your same fate!!

Sounds like you have your goals well in hand.  I'm betting you'll be able to do the Oly with no problems.

What do you do that has you traveling all over the world?

Hello from a Born and Raised Texan living in Seattle at this time. You will find some good tris in the metroplex.

I read on another post that you are not from Texas. Is this correct? Where did you move from?

Good luck in the healing process...

Dave :-)

Good Luck in CO. I'm do back there in Feb...with or without the cast. My only advise is wrist guards. I used to always wear them as I ride a little harder than most, but this was the first time I didn't...and one bad spill was all it took. You'll be fine!

Thanks for the vote of confidence...We'll plan on re-visiting this in Sept and see how I did.

I'm an IT nerd...joined a company out of college that moves me every six months for experience...though it's coming to an end in Feb...where should I move to settle?

Just saw that...plan is to compete well in a May 1 sprint tri...then depending on that do the oly tri in pilot point.

Grew up in IL. Spent 4 months in WI, 12 months in MN and 6 months in Australia...and now I'm in Texas...who knows where in Feb.

Arm is feeling good, sat on my bike today...may try to ride with the cast soon.

funny...I just saw your other post and asked where you were... :-)

Yep, I'm living in Plano and work in Addison.

Arm is doing well...crossing my fingers as I go back for X-rays today. Hoping he'll take me out of the cast and into a removable splint...we'll see. But, I am back to cycling...and never stopped running.

I did my first tri last March in Australia...without training. It was a super sprint (300, 10K, 3K) so wasn't bad at all...just wasn't ready for the open water swim.

I've been biking several years, often doing century rides and MS 150s...but this is the first year I'm serious about doing a triathlon...start with a sprint in the sprint and an Olympic late in the summer.
