Has anyone ever done this race before? It is my first tri, so I am curious what the course is like. I heard a member of the Redline club call the swim, "The swim portion is a walk not much swimming." I would love to know what that means. Are there many hills on the run or bike? Thanks for the help.

I did this one the past two years.  The swim as a swim-walk if pretty much right on.  Its in a man-made lake which is REALLY shallow.  Its not 400m either, like they say it is.  Its pretty much run 100m in the water, swim about 100m around the deeper part, then 100m back to the finish.  Its kinda ridiculous, but it makes for a fast swim time.  Check out some of the swim times from last year and youll get the idea.

The bike is really flat.  Im not sure if I even remember a hill on that course. Same goes for the run.  VERY flat out n back

Do I need a wetsuit? Considering the swim is so short? This is like music to my ears as my swim training was crushed by various illnesses, and I am way way behind.

No. The water is shallow and, thus, warm.  A wetsuit will probably make you SLOWER going through T1....  Id skip the wetsuit 100%.

well, now I wonder if I should wear the tri top and bottoms because I assume it is easier than trying to put a jersey on a wet body!
