Anyone found a wide mouth water bottle with straight sides that could be used to hold a tube, tools, patch kit, money, etc.

Thanks

Maybe someone else know what I am talking about but I saw something at my LBS that looked like it was designed for what you are looking for but was not a water bottle.  Had a pop open lid with plenty of room inside.

I use old water bottles for this. I just cut the top end of it off and put it in my down tube cage. Nothing has ever fallen out.

No need for motifications, just use the taller water bottle and you'll have room for everything.....that's what I do

I used to always ride with this setup - crammed into a standard size bottle: tube, inflator w/2 cartiges, glueless patch kit, tire levers, small mulittool, small roll of electrical tape, $20 bill, and was able to screw the top on fine.

Here's another option:

I've used a regular water bottle and while getting everything in isn't a problem, getting stuff out can sometimes be a PIA. The nashbar device that rstocks showed works well, but it doesn't fit in the bottle cages on my tri-bike.

The Trek soft pack looks nice, anyone know if it is water proof?

a $0.05 zip lock bag makes anything "waterproof"

I've found that those flavored vitamin-water bottles work perfectly for just such a purpose.  Just remove label, cut off the top, and you've got a clear container that fits 2 tubes, 2 CO2's, patches, 2 levers, cash and keys.

Hey, sounds like a good idea.  And since you won't be able to use that water cage to carry water, you can use this to put your water bottle in:

Soma Noe Hemp Seat Bag

My tri-bike came with the PD XLAB (no space for a seat bag) so I used a water bottle for the tools and stuff.  One of the guys at the LBS was going to swap out my water bottle for one with their logo on it until he realized it wasn't empty.

I have a HydroTail on my new bike with three (yes, three) cages, and I use the rear one to hold a standard water bottle with my repair stuff in it.

I just came back from a trip to California, and having the bottle worked well because I just threw it in one of the two cages on the bike I rented.

Scott,
Exactly the reason I want the water bottle tool kit...using a Flatwing and want the ability to move between bikes.

Beautiful bike you have.
