blog is short for web log. It is not specific to triathlons by any means. It is an on line record and bloggers (one who blogs) are more associated with the press than with sports, but since we log our workouts on line sometimes we become bloggers.

To add another subtle layering to the definition, to simply "log" your training means you're putting in the numbers only (hours, miles).  To "blog" your training is to make it more personal by including more qualitative descriptions of your training and/or personal life as it relates to triathlons.  The blogs are a way for others here on the boards to follow you through the ups and downs of training.
