Subject: Destin OWS?
Hello Florida BTers -

We are in Destin for vacation this week and I'm wondering if there are any group OWS (or open pools) in the area. I'm not opposed to swimming back and forth in front of the condo, but it's less scary if there is a group.

I was in the Destin area last year, actually stayed on the beach in Ft Walton Beach and ran to Destin and back. I swam just offshore without any problem. The longshore current pushes you one way then it was a little tougher on the return trip.

I live in the Destin area (but am in CA this week on business).  I don't know of any groups, but I have seen many people swimming out beyond the breakers.  I've also seen the lifeguards paddle out on surfboards to see what they are doing, then turn around again.
