Last year Hangloose picked me up at the train station and drove me to the Super 8. It was magical. Fond ideas were born, such as the aerobong, and I met great people, like Coredump and Whizzz and Schmize and that whole gang. I laughed, I cried, I frolicked. Ah memories.

So in the hopes of reliving those fond, fond memories, I've decided to do the Lake in the Hills Triathlon again this year. Sadly the Crystal Lake OWS is no longer the same weekend, so I'll have to skip that one.

Anyway it's July 19 and it really is a great time. I would highly recommend it. The course isn't exactly easy but it's not that hard, either. Just remember, the run is 4 miles, not a 5K, and you'll do fine. In other words, don't start sprinting at the 2.5-mile mark like yours truly did last year. I nearly yakked wondering where the finish was!

I have an extra hotel bed. Who's in?

Considering it.  Will pass on the motel bed and spooning as I live close enough to just drive there in the morning.

I'm thinking about it, but it will only be my second tri. The first one will be June 22nd in Naperville. I've heard horror stories about the course and not sure I will be up to it.

Nahhh it's not that bad. It's a sprint, well a long sprint. Totally up to you, though. It's a good course on which to challenge yourself.

I will be there.  This was my first TRI last year.

The bike portion has some hills but not so bad.  I hope a years worth of training will help me improve.  I am looking to drop 15 minutes.

I signed up for it. I have 1 question about the bike course of this triathlon though. I live in LITH and rode my bike on the course, according to last year's map: do racers just turn around on Conley Road or go on a loop on Rte 47? This map seems strange to me...

Last year it was a turn around in the street.  The Director talked about doing it differently this year.

What map are you looking at?

That's code for VOLUNTEERING.

Does anybody know what body of water this is? I can't see anything on a google map of the area and there is very little course information available through the web site.

Maybe we'll be at the same intersection screaming at people. I decided that I would volunteer also I didn't think I would be ready for the hills this time. I know a few people from work that are doing it, so I'll be there to support them this way.

Indian Trail Beach. Lake in the Hills.

Info from the RD.

We're just a short 12 days away from the big day. It seems that some of you have not received the mailed out confirmation. So to make this somewhat easier - I am attaching the paperwork that you were to receive. Additionally, I have attached each wave worksheet, who is in the wave, race number and start time. Please note that this is an excel form that has 8 total waves listed on the bottom of the sheet.
We have tried our best to get everyone in the wave time requested - however, you may notice that there were waves combined and based upon when you registered, you may be in a slower wave. The waves are set and we will not make any changes after this point. As you can see we do have up to 50 available spots left. So tell your friends that there are still openings.
If you have family members or friends who would like to volunteer, we definitely are looking for help on Saturday. Please have them email me and I can get them set up for volunteering.
Lastly, packet pick up is available at the Village Hall starting Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18 - 8:30 a.m - 5:00 p.m. and Thursday until 7:30 p.m. Also, packet pick up is on Saturday morning beginning at 5:00 a.m. at Ken Carpenter Park on Miller & Randall Road.
Please fee free to email me if you have any further questions.
