Who's living in the Upstate?

What races are you planning on this season?

Any fun/favorite training areas I should start looking at?

I'm in Simpsonville by way of Phila. PA for the past 6 years.

Upstater here!!!

Places to run: Furman is a cool place to run. I don't mind the drive, it beats running my neighborhood. Cleveland park in downtown Greenville is also a good running area.

As far as rides, you can find lots of good routes on routeslip.com

The vineyard ride is one of my favorites. There are also riding groups that head out of Carolina Triathlon on Woodruff Road on Tuesdays and Saturdays. I've never been on one of their rides, but see the groups out riding when I am.

Lots of good riding in the upstate. Of course, there is also the famous bakery ride from North Greenville College up to Saluda. George Hincappie likes to do that route. And if you need some monster hill repeats, head over to paris mountain state park. There's a doozie there.

Edited to add: I'm in Simpsonville, too. Over on the Woodruff Rd side.

Another Upstater S'vlle BTer (and virtual neighbor to SuzanneS). Riding is fabulous 'round these parts. Flatter areas heading toward Woodruff, Gray Court and Fountain Inn. Hillier areas near Furman, North Greenville College and Marietta. Lots of group ride opportunities. In addition to the Carolina Tri rides, there is Donaldson Center every Tuesday night at 6pm. A pack (licensed racers only) B pack (everyone welcome, average 18-22 mph) C group does a ride through the country, all levels and abilities. Also, every other Thursday out at Donaldson Center, the Greenville Spinners Bike Club sponsors a 10 mile TT. A small fee is required to participate. TT starts at 6pm with riders starting every 3 minutes.

Welcome to SC. Hope you aren't too homesick.

I've been here for the past 6yrs. After 25 years  living in the city and rural PA, there's no way I'd leave this area. I love it here. It has everything I like to do within a 4 hour drive from my house. And it only snows once a year here! I LOVE IT!!

Another Upstater here... Has been G-villian. I now live in Pelzer and work in Clemson. Most people have hit the good running/riding. There is a Saturday morning ride that goes up over Paris Mtn. It's about a 20 miler. Also there is an evening group OWS that happens about twice a month in Clemson.

Races Planned:
Clemson Tri - Done
Midlands Tri
Hickory Knob
Spinxfest Marathon
