Who's doing it and who's done it before?
This will be my first time at this race and was just wondering if anybody had any input from past races (how are the three legs? well run? etc.)

Thanks,
T.J.

I'm registered, but have not done this race before. The swim looks pretty cool and seems like it would be great for spectators to follow around. I too am interested in the course. Hilly on the bike or run. Shaded on the run, ect.

Good luck to all!

I'm in and first time for this race.  This will be the first time I've done either a point to point swim or a time trial start.  The race description says that its a rolling bike course and a flat and fast run.  I guess its all relative though.

I am in for this one as well. The swim is a TT start, bike course is rolling but nothing huge (at least from what I have been told) and the run is hot and unshaded as you run across the damn at one point.

Jim at Ga Multisports always puts on a good race so no worries there.

The wife and I are in. We haven't done this one, but it looks like it is a great race. Here is a link to the race reports: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/directory/link-detail....

I'm in. I did this race last year..having trouble remembering specifics though. The bike course is rolling hills but it isn't impossible kidding..it's a great course really. Sure it's hard, but in a good challenging way. The run is relatively flat with only 1 hill if I remember correctly. It is hot though as you run across the damn as Rocketman mentioned with no shade. But it's flat so can't complain there. At the awards if you stick around Jim gives away some cool tri stuff. I won a bike tool and a friend of mine got a new bike pump.

I have a very verbose race report on my blog if that interests you. This was my first Oly. It was kinda important to capture the moment...

I am thinking of doing this one also but have a quick question..I am doing the "My Next Tri" in Gainesville on the 7th.  I am also considering doing the Tri the Parks series at Indian Springs state park on June 28th.  That will be 3 races (albeit sprints) in a 4-week window in June.  My next race after that one on the 28th is going to be my first Oly in Pittsburgh on July 20 so I will have 3 full weeks before that race.  Is this unusual to do 3 sprints in a month?  I am a noob having only 2 sprints under my belt at this point but I just did a trail marathon a couple of weeks ago and my bike training is solid....just curious if it is a detriment to race that often...thanks in advance.

P.S.  Wes - great job in your HIM!

West Point is an Olympic distance race...so that would be your first.

I'm signed up as well. This is my 2nd race, my first was a couple of weeks ago in Peachtree City. I'm glad to hear there are no big hills on the bike since bike is my newest sport.

I have a couple of quick random questions:

1) what is a time trial start?

2) How accurate are the directions on the gamultisports website? I am thinking of driving in from Roswell that morning and am afraid of getting lost.

They let you enter the water two at a time, three seconds a part. I rather liked it! Plenty of room to swim the whole way. No jostling....

Do you have a Car Navigation GPS?  I have the actual grid coordinates of the entrance to the Park. I'll have to pull them off my GPS, but those would take you right to the front gate.

Also.. this was my first 'oly', and my next 'oly'.. although they are calling it International Distance.. which PRAISE THEM.. finally, a race director is getting it right. If it's not a 1500 Meter swim (exactly), a 40K bike (exactly), and a 10k run (exactly), then it's not an Olympic distance triathlon. It's an international Distance Triathlon.. which allows for distance flexibility. Oly's do not..  Even though I just got done saying it was my first 'oly', and my next one too.

I don't have a GPS but Google will allow me to enter coordinates and it will generate a map. If you could send the coordinates it would be great. The directions on the web site seem too easy.

After just having a hellish run at mid day to train in the heat, I thought I'd check the extended forcast for next Saturday.

84 degrees with poss scattered t storms.

Could we luck out with the temperature? Looks like we might.

Hey everybody!  Went down and rode the Oly course (most of it-got a little off course) last week, and it's not too bad.  There are not any hellish climbs, truly a rolling course.  A great ride.  The run however is not shaded and promises to be warm regardless of temp.  It is across the dam and relatively flat. So, hope that helps!  BTW, I saw Jim R. while we were riding and he is going to be there Fri pm.  I am also going through there Fri pm, so if we want to sent up the Club tent Fri. night, I can help out with that!
