Subject: first attempt at a sprint tri

Hello all.  I am a 30 yr old school teacher who used to run road races and cross country when I was in HS, but have fallen sorrily out of shape.  I am planning on attempting a sprint tri on July 20th.  I am a slow runner, ok biker (although newbie) and a beginner swimmer so this should be quite a challenge.  I am doing this as part of a few coworker team that has committed to training for something that will challenge us all.    I have already gotten some great info as a lurker and look forward to hearing from those who have been down this road before.

The race is in Harrisburg, PA    Catfish tri....www.tricatsports.com

I decided to try a sprint triathlon in February - at which point I didn't even know how to free style swim and I had only ridden a bike maybe a total of 3 hours in the past 15 years!  I took a couple of private swim lesson in February and bought a road bike at the same time.  I just did my first tri this past Saturday and it was awesome!  It was a mini sprint (300m/14k/4k) and I am doing a regular sprint on June 15.

I went from not knowing how to swim at all - to today - I swam 2000m non-stop!  And in my first tri I had the 7th fasted bike split out of 54!!!

You can definitely do it!!!  Progress happens fast!
