Okay, so I have an in to get bike gear at wholesale type prices. My new tri bike needs some stuff, of course. I've already thought of pedals, water bottle cages, and an aero water bottle. The sizzano came with clip on oval slam aero bars. They're pretty short & not extremely adjustable. So, I'm considering getting a different pair. What else should I consider? Note that I am far too slow to consider stuff like super expensive wheels. I'd be a laughing stock, "check out the chick with way more money that speed!"

3 things come to mind (I don't mind spending your money):
1). Get an extra cassette for the hills around here - maybe a 12/27 or 12/29
2). A new helmet?
3). How's the seat - is it comfortable enough for some loooooooong rides?

Just got a new helmet for my birthday (very belated). Don't know on the seat. Haven't even had my butt on it. But, my guess is that'd be a good thing to look into as well.

If the seat you got/get is anything like the one I got on my Javelin...GET A NEW ONE!  Hello, painful!!  My Serfas Tri women's specific is pretty good so far, but you gotta go with what's comfy for you.

Edited to add...I think you should add streamers and a horn, too...

That's funny. Mine came with a reflector on the front tire, and I sat in my house looking at that thinking - why would I ever want a reflector on my tri bike. Lame-o.

What about a Bento Box or something similar to store those things treats you need on your long rides?

All good ideas. Thanks! I'm not so sure about the flag holder.... Just because I'm slow doesn't mean I want to make myself slower.

Streamers on the handle bars always look cool. Playing card in the spokes? Horn?

Ooo, I so want that motorcycle sound. Then, when people pass me I might be able to make them crash.

LOL! I saw them on my bike in the store and forgot to ask that they take them off. So I thought to take them off when I got home. I was so excited to take the bike out the next day for a ride with a friend that she commented, "Nice bike, but umm, I would take the reflectors off." D'oh! Nothing like being on the same roads as those training for IM looking all swank with 6 reflectors!

Don't forget the playing card in the spokes to give your ride that hotrod sound. You could use it as a cadence tool! I may do this just to embarrass my friend.

Okay, so should I get the super fancy cyclometer with a heart rate monitor, or the lower end but still has cadence monitor. Difference in price? 16 bucks versus 40 bucks?

Super fancy one: Trek Incite ACH

Lower end one: Cateye Astrale 8

Oh, and I just found out that apparently the trek stores have some thingy that you go in and sit on and it measures your butt impression to determine what size saddle would work best for you - so now I have to take a trip to the store. Who knew?

Are you sure this isn't just a trick?
