Well I was changing my flat today and notice quite a bit of wear on the rear of the frame where it raps around the tire. The tire seems to be far enough away but I guess sand or something must stick to the tire and rub in there. It fells rough to the touch so I'm guessing the clear coat and paint have worn through. Does anyone else have this problem or know how thick the carbon fiber is back there? Also is there a way to repair it and should I be concerned? Sorry to run on but this is a lot of money for a frame and I was hopeing to have it for 10+ years.

Common drawback of aero frames that run close to the tire. I wouldnt worry too much but perhaps moving the tire another 1/8-1/4 inch would be a wise idea to decrease the frequency.

I was going to ad a strip or 2 of electric tape to the fame to keep it from doing it every again. When i pull the wheel back all I have to do it turn the set screws out evenly right? What do you think about one 90 degree turn out should do it?

I have the same problem on my p3c.  tires are not perfectly round and sometimes grit sticks to the tires and drags it through.  With a carbon frame, you hear every scrape since frame seems to magnify the sound.  Was easiest just to move the wheel out like someone else already mentioned.  Just adjust set screws same on both sides (or double check to make sure tire is centered in cutout).  You'll have to try it out and see how far you have to go to eliminate the rubbing.

Cervelo recommends 10mm from tire to frame at the "cut out" for maximum aerodynamics. Hope this helps.

Thank for the replies, sorry to be a pain but I was in panic mode for a bit there. I put some electrical tape on the back and turned out the screws 3/4 a turn out. I may go from 2 to 1 piece of tape and move it out another 1/4 turn just to be safe.

I have the same thing on my aluminum Roo frame. The paint is eroded in the same spot. If the tire was actually rubbing the frame you would have noticed a significant decrease in performance similar to something like a draggin brake caliper. What has happened is over time your tires are throwing debis onto the same spot. The result could be likened to a sandblaster, only it is blasting one grain of sand at a time for looooong period of time. If you are still concerned about this I would consider a strip of mylar tape if you can get your hands on some. To ease any fears you have regarding the structural integrity of your frame I would email a pic to Cervelo's tech support dept. You might even ask them to recommend a paint product that is compatible with the frame and paint to do a touch up on it yourself. They will probably send you a free bottle if you ask. Specialized sent me a free bottle of touch up for my MTB a few years back. All I had to do was ask nicely.

Tanks, I will have to e-mail them and see what they say about the paint. Will mylar tape be a better option over electrical tape?
