Subject: Looking for suggestions on a good transition bag

Anyone have any suggestions? I want to get a transition bag as I am currently just using an old gym bag. I saw one at my last race that looked really awesome but never got a chance to talk with the guy about it.

It looked like the bag just unzipped and flipped open to lay flat under the bike. Looked like it held everything really well.

I'm looking into this one, partially because I like how it looks Sealed, but it looks pretty useful, and you might be able to get away with keeping everything in the bag and under your bike. It comes with a little chair that could be useful if you can spare the second or two to sit down on it to put on your socks or something. :P

I also saw a few nice ones at REI.com as well as trisports.com if that helps you at all. I'm in the market for one right now as well and can't find one that has the "look" that I want.

My TYR transition bag is awesome and usually on sale for less than $60 on tri-zone.

Nothing wrong with a plain gym bag for a transition bag. If you "need" more than that you may want to look at simplifying your transitions. Spend your money elsewhere where it matters.

My fave:

Mainly because of the size... EVERYTHING Fits and the completely separate wet section. Just that can easily hold wetsuit towel, cap, etc.

I second Robot's suggestion of the De Soto bag.  Holds everything easily, and has a separated section on the bottom for the wet suit.

I have the TYR bag as well and love it!

Though I do lust after the ostentatious one Zipp makes...

I just bought the Tyr Transition bag. Seemed big enough to hold everything in it's place and the store I bought it from had it for $57. My father's day present!

Oh, and I am somewhat OCD, so having a bag that has spots for all the tri gear is right up my alley.

I picked up a transition bag from Haber Vision last year and find it works real well. There normally $45, but if you sign up for there email sales you'll find they go on sale for around $35 every so often. Well worth it and much cheaper then some others.

I have the TYR one too.  Love it.  I can fit a ton in it.

I also have the TYR bag and would buy it again, but the inside seems to be tearing a bit.  It's just the plastic lining and won't affect the bag itself, but it is kinda annoying.  I think I bought it at the beginning od 2007 season.

Might want to check out these bags, they are more expensive, but look sweet and have had good reviews!  http://www.rocketsciencesports.com//>
One other thing to think about, the previous post said a gym bad will work great and I totally agree.  But I've been to several races that parking was a long walk to t-area....so I rode instead of walked my bike.  It was much easier to have my gear out of my way on my back vs in a duffel.  Knowing myself, I would have lost balance and wrecked with a duffel bag on my shoulder.

Just recieved an email the Haber bag is now a whopping $32 til June 23.

Here's the link: http://www.habervision.com/product/54003.aspx

Code: DB6748M for the discount if it doesn't show up.

No interest in the company, just real pleased with my transition bag, especially for the price.

I only have experience with the Desoto bag, but it rocks with all its compartments and such as well as a pad to put your stuff on.  Used it for the first time at Eagleman and had everything I needed right where I wanted it.

Triathletes certainly love their gear.  I would like to have a cool bag but I need too many other things first.  I use a little gym bag that I take to the pool.  I'm able to get everything in there and it works OK.  I think any little backpack would work too.

I have the Rocket bag from Rocket Science Sports!! The bag is amazing and can hold everything I needed.  Might be overkill for a sprint but for my HIM it worked perfect.

I think I'm in love with my new Rocket Science Elite bag I received.  It just came today...I'm just itching to put stuff in all the little compartments when I get home tonight.  Looks like a really high quality bag in terms of construction and durability!

x3

I just went through this same process on picking a tran bag. I was pretty set on the TYR bag..but then heard rave reviews on the Elite bag by RocketScience. I ended up going with the elite bag (despite it being almos 2x the price) and its very nice. I am neurotic on race day, and really love all the nice little compartments to make sure that I have everything. I have nightmares (literally) about getting to the swim start and realizing that my goggles are somewhere else!

OH..and although I somewhat agree that a gym bag or regular backpack will generally do the job, a true tran bag has the room and design to really make your life a lot easier on race day. Also: tough to neatly get everyhing you need in a regular backpack (wetsuit..helmet, etc.) without cramming it in or having you keep your gear separate (which makes it easier to forget something!!).

I like my Blue Seventy transition bag. I highly suggest getting one that has the separate wetsuit compartment.
