Event comments:

I originally planned on only doing the 100k route. But I decided to do the 200k instead. I was up to the challenge. I felt great the entire day and my legs were even better. Everything was going great until the final rest stop. I was talking with one of the sag guys and he said to me that there was a storm moving in. I told him impossible, it is sunny with a few clouds. He told me to look to the west and I did and there it was, THE STORM. I only had 24 miles left on the last leg of the ride or I could take a short cut and just ride into the finish which was about 5-6 miles away. I decided to play it safe and ride into the finish. I got rained on and my brakes absolutely sucked when they got wet so I am glad I didn't attempt to finish the course.

This is a great challenge ride with plenty of rest stops and food. If you have a chance you should give it a go.

Great job on the ride.

My buddy and I did the 100K and were listening to a Madison radio station on the drive back to Chicago, when the National Weather Service interrupted it and told everybody to take immediate cover as a severe storm was coming through.  You made the smart move in heading back.

Awesome long ride, probably a good idea to have cut it short because of your brakes.

Dude. YOU. ARE. NUTS.

I've HUGE respect for you doing the 200. WOW.

That was the toughest ride I've ever done...but we don't have hills like that in MI .

congratulations on a great ride!!

One thing I forgot to mention in my report. While riding back to the park in the rain a guy rode up to me and asked me a question, "During an electrical storm what would you rather ride, my carbon framed bike or your steel framed bike?" I told him that the only time I would ever ride a carbon bike is in an electrical storm.  That got me thinking and I rode away from him and into the park as fast I could make it up the last two hills.
