Whats your favorite, I am not against doing CDA again, but what others are just awesome???  I am sure they each have there own nitch, but I want the total package again......  Which ones should I take a look at??  International is ok as well.....

Call me greedy...

Ironman Wisconsin provides thousands of people lined up cheering you up the helix exiting the water....the three climbs are lined with people cheering playing drums etc. The second hill/climb is lined like the Tour de France with people screaming for you....Verona is wall to wall people as you zip through town.

The run on State Street is lined with people cheering and except for about three miles through the trail/back of Univ of Wisconsin people are on the run course...

You run through Camp Randell stadium as well....

You can watch my video in my training log on youtube for the feel of the event....its great!

I have spectated at IMAZ, IMC, IMCdA, IMFL, and IMLou. The only one I think is not great is IMFL. Panama City Beach is gross. I haven't seen the Lou bike course so I can't comment on that, but it was the most well run race I have seen. CdA was absolutely gorgeous. The town really welcomes the athletes, too. IMAZ is right in the middle of Tempe but the course is uninspiring. Very uninspiring. IMC is beautiful as well. Same small resort town feel as CdA.

IM Wisconsin is great.  The spectator support is unreal.  I was out in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin and there would be a farm family of four sitting in there driveway screaming with cowbells.  Madison is a great venue, ton's to do for your support team.  I'm not sure if Madison lacked anything for me as a race site.  I would recommend IMOO.

Best of Luck,

MT

I have done IMLP, IMLOU and The Great Floridian.

IMLOU-Gorgeous scenery on the bike (and if you're nice I will ask my parent to wave at you as you pass their house), not to mention a trip down memory lane as it goes past my parents house, my old HS and the town that I used to live in. It also goes past some of the largest horse farms in the world in Skylight and L'Esprit. The run course was also cool as it goes through the University of Louisville and some of the older neighborhoods around the city.

IMLP-Breath taking scenery on the bike and run, by far the most beautiful place I have ever raced (and I lived in Hawaii for 2 years). Mirror Lake is absolutely amazing and the community support is awesome too.

Great Floridian-Don't ever do this race....ever...I mean it. The swim is in a murky lake that you can't see your hand in front of your face. The bike course goes along one road that has 18 wheelers whizzing past at 70 mph, and you also have such lovely scenery as trailer parks, run down homes, junkyards, etc. The run is around the same murky lake that you swim in on an off camber road that is pitch black on the backside of the lake.

I've only done IM FL.  I was really disappointed in PCB- it's yucky and the locals aren't all that supportive.  The only good thing about it is the beach- the beach is really pretty and has white sand and clear water.  And that's about it.  I'm thinking about IM AZ next year- maybe...

I've only done IMLou but I'm going back for another year, the community support is great, the bike course is beautiful and never boring and the run in in downtown - all in all a really cool race.

I'm a little biased of course, but IM Moo is terrific!  Especially when I go back to volunteering and will be cheering you participants on!

I havn't done an IM yet...so I can't say favorite...but I am planning on doing Vineman 09.  So would be nice to have some other BTers there!  It looks really nice and it goes through the Napa Vineyards so I have heard the ride is beautiful!

O.K. Greedy....jk.....I've done three....IMFL, IMLou and IMCDA......

So far the winner is CDA....

IMFL:
Pros - ocean swim, beach, hanging out by the pool/beach the next day...
Cons- redneck Riviera, not much community support, scenery??

IMLou:
Pros- courses (love the run course), places to stay nearby, decent community involvement, the folks that knew about IM were very supportive, great finish line!
Cons - swim course (but it is what it is...), since you're in the city it's not much on scenery except for the bike course (which is really nice)

IMCDA:
Pros - clean lake swim but a bit crowded, bike course in the hills, community support (every person that realized you were there for the race wished you luck, etc., very good finish line (very close second to L-ville), lots of people on ALL Parts of the run and bike courses....weather!
Cons - transition area kinda goofy...parts of the run course were o.k....some of the roads on the bike could be rough....

I've been to Louisville during the summer a couple times, and I remember it being disgustingly hot and humid.  I guess it's been awhile.  Am I mistaken?

I think disgustingly hot and humid sums it up pretty good. It was still a great hot and humid race though!!
