Subject: ? about elev/grade for route on BT route tracker
Going to ride Sat from Brevard NC up HWY 276 to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The distance up is 13.05 miles and the elevation is 11552 ft. Would that be a 6 % grade ? New on this figuring grade thingy.

 (elevation /  distance) * 100 = grade %

So (11552/ (5280*13.05)) *100 = 16.8%


That seems like a bit much.

When I imported the route into my list and reset the elevation values, it came out to 4921 feet of climbing to the campground which would be a grade of 7.1%. Not a piece of cake over 13 miles but certainly more reasonable.

The way back sounds like a fun ride.
