Okay I need some major help here I have searching forever how and what you need to qualify. Ive found basically nothing so Im hitting all the WRONG places i guess. This past weekend I did Musselman Traithlon in New York (Half ironman) and my time was 5:10:20. I am 18 years old. My age group for the race was 15-19 and I won that..... so can anyone please help on age groups for the championships and qualifying times and if I qualified or not? Thank you so much!

I could be wrong, but I think you need to be at the awards cermony to claim your spot. If you won your AG you should have a spot.

I would email the RD though for clarification....

Edit to Add - I believe its based on finish ag place - not time...it also needs to be part of the 70.3 series.

My understanding is that you have to place in the top 3 of your AG. Well you did that so you should have a spot.

Congrats on the race BTW!

Was it a 70.3 race (ironman brand) or just a half iron race?  To qualify for clearwater it needs to be a 70.3 series race.

First off- congrats on the AG win- that's awesome!!

In order to qualify for Clearwater, you need to do an 'official' qualifying race. Most races that have the '70.3 Ironman' brand attached have qualilfying spots. Those include Steelhead 70.3, Rhode Island 70.3, Florida 70.3... etc.

Musselman is NOT a qualifying race, but an excellent race nonetheless.

However--and I haven't checked to see whether or not Musselman counts, but there is a HalfMax Championship as well that is the USAT 1/2 Iron distance championship race...so it is possible you qualified for that one.  The HalfMax website has the "how you qualify" for it on it as well. http://www.halfmaxchampionship.com/

Just as another thought in case you can't get to a qualifying 70.3 event.

Musselman is not a qualifier race for the 70.3 series, and I dont see it eiather as a qualifier for the USAT lonfg distance championship, which is the Halfmax race (link posted above). But you can always ask! Nevertheless congrats on your race result
