Practicing Yoga in a quiet space of the beach before the swim start.

Or better, taking a nap in the transition area. I most often end up in transition so early in the morning that a Nap just seems so natural once I am set up.

FWIW: I also napped at the start line of the Tucson Marathon last year and ended up with most agreeable results

Add me to the saying "Hello" to animals crowd. (Got to say "Hi" to a couple horses on the Vineman bike course Sunday, come to think of it...and I admit I glanced back after I did it to see if anyone was behind me to hear it...)

This is great! I finally feel like I can be comfortable knowing that I'm not the only one who talks to livestock as they run/bike by.

whew =)

I used to pass a donkey on one route.....weird weird sound they make.

On a bike ride with a close friend/co-worker/triathlete, we passed a farm w/a donkey. Wiseguy that I am, I yelled, "Nice ." Since this was on her daily route to work, she says she thinks about that ride every day. And she, by the way, has...oh, never mind.

Don't recall that I brayed at the donkey, though. But alas, while going to college at Shipensburg University, I used to ride my 10 speed schwin on these very same country backroads, and yes, I have also been know to moo at the cows. And they just stare at you, especially if you're just walking.

I tend to sing while running/biking if I'm not wearing the shuffle then I usually end up with California Girls in my head. Once it starts, there's no way to stop it unless I hear another song or two.

The problem is that I don't pay much attention to the words I'm singing, so generally mid-west farmers daughters keep their boyfriends warm at night and the Northern girls are hip I really dig those styles they wear... etc...

I apologize to Brian Wilson and the "Boys" for butchering their song for the length of my 30-60 minute runs, and to my sister who often has to put up with my mixed-up (and severely off-tune) lyrics. The only other songs that I sing while training are from Oklahoma... Sis isn't a big fan of that either...

How about while racing? I bite my lower lip or tongue or pinch the skin near the tips of my thumb nails with other nails....this usually keeps my mind off the other pains I'm experiencing.

dlb3830 - 2008-07-19 3:26 PM Yeah, I definately sing aloud on the bike. When I ride by cows, I yell "HEEEEEY COWWWWWWWWW!"

Haha.... I yell at cows too.  I usually say "HI COWS!!!" and they all look at me.  I find it amusing.

And then I launch LOUDLY into "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (the song that begins, Turn around ...)

That is full of awesome.

When on a long run, I always touch a sign/signpost/other marker for good luck at any turnaround.

And then I launch LOUDLY into "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (the song that begins, Turn around ...)

I LOVE THAT SONG!!  I AM TOTALLY DOING THAT THIS EVENING!

If I have to pee in a short race I won't (unless it's really bad).  Same concept

And in training (alone) I talk to the animals.  Give them names, call out in their language, typical stuff

Speaking of cows (where else on BT can I say that ) I have a joke you can use on your training buddies next time you pass a herd.  Point to the herd and, very authoritatively, declare those are summer cows.  When you partner looks at you in aw and wonder at your dairy-livestock knowledge, you can point out, "see, some are black, some are brown......... some(are) cows!!"

I can hear all the moos moans echoing around the world.

Oh yeah, I talk to the cows and horses I ride by and sometimes the deer too.  And when I'm running along the road, I have to touch all the roadside markers I go past, or cars parked along the road, or mailboxes, or telephone poles...just about anything as long as it takes my mind off running for a second or two.

Is cycling in swim suit and running in bike shorts not eccentric enough?

Don't forget to speak to the sheep too...

When I am on a longer ride by myself I try to sing through all of Jesus Christ Superstar in my head. I can't get much passed "What's the buzz" before I get onto something else.

I like to do naked pushups, situps, stretching, and shadow-boxing in the locker room at the gym.

I do get some strange looks from the other guys, it's almost like they're going to go post about me on an Internet forum or something.

When I run I can't help but call cadence in my head as if I were marching in formation; left, left, left right left. I blame basic training for that one.

Add another one to "one who talks to animals" while riding ... I usually add in a "neiiighhhh" or "baaaaa" for good measure.

I am always on the lookout for hot chicks when I train. If they are training too, it is like +3 points for them. Usually I end up seeing them in cars or walking on trails with friends. No luck picking anyone up so far...Frown
