Got on the bike for a nice 20 mile ride today and got to experience my first 0 mph bike crash.  I was coming off a trail onto the road and had to wait for some traffic to pass.  I upclipped and put down my right foot the proceeded to list to the left.  I didn't even have time to try and unclip my left foot.  I fell ungracefully to the gound in a tangle of bike and limbs.  Banged up my left hand a bit - should get some pretty colors out of it in a day or two!

Been there. Done that. Hope you heal quickly!

Would you all like to see where I swim and my brand spanking new running shoes!?

Okay. hehehehe. Sounds like everyone is gettin r' done! HAHAHA I got r' done too. Although it was a short run, the toe is still pissed off at me. I really am dying for longer run weekends to start, not that they ever had but that was my plan this month. I think I would benefit more from running maybe every other day, Tuesday, Thursday and then a long run Sunday. Ok enough blabbing. Oh I am planning on biking home from work on Friday! I desperately need some T.I.T.S!!

This is Seward Park. This is where probably a lot of triathletes swim. If you count the boats from the left, just the close ones, when you get to 4 and 5, inbetween them is the buoy I swim to the most. Round trip is 1/4 mile. I love it when it's this calm!!! There are a couple of swimmers in the pic, but it's a bit small. Okay I'll shut up now. Sorry.

Ma brand spanking new sneakers. Or trainers as we call them where I'm from

That lake is GORGEOUS!!!! And your shoes look a lot like mine. What brand are they?

well, dh has decided he's my training coach. and he tells me i'm swimming this morning. LOL i guess we'll see how his "training plan" goes *evil grin*

Yeah, well my dh thinks he is my training coach, too. Yesterday as I was swimming he stood at one end of the pool telling me about all the things I'm doing WRONG with my stroke. It's not like he is a swimmer or anything. I mean, don't get me wrong - he swims - but he was never on a swim team, never been coached himself - NOTHING. I felt like saying SHUT UP AND LET ME GET IN MY WORKOUT!!!

Isn't it funny how they (dh's) are "so incredibly smart."  My dh says that I need to work on my transitions.  Really?!?!  He knows nothing about triathlons.  And, I run a 13 minute mile and my avg. mph on the bike is about 15.  I think there are more issues than my transitions.  Alas, I listen to make him happy.  Then do exactly as I want and practiced.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...my swimming technique is about the last thing I need to work on...well, maybe not the LAST thing...

So is anyone racing this weekend?

Yep.  Turtleman Triathlon.  Olympic distance swim, shortened bike (21 miles) and run (5 miles).

Last year I got a hickey.  A weed hickey.  A weed got wrapped around the back of my neck at the start and stayed there for the entire swim.  It wasn't until the last 100 yds that I realized it was there.  Got a nice hickeylike mark on my neck.  After seeing that, my wife was probably wondering if that's why I enjoyed triathlons so much...

Good luck to you. I baulked my 1st Olympic.  Not a good memory for me

Rachel. There is NO milfoil at Danskin.  Do you want to meet for a swim at Seward Park before the race? I can make you be at one with the foily!

Seaweed, only in a lake. So Lakeweed? ahahhaahaha.  I don't mind it, unless when I'm swimming and it attacks me...
