We'll be taking off from the Kent Lake Beach parking lot at 9:00 AM with a route that will take us from in the park out around Milford, the proving grounds, through South Lyon, and where ever we may wander. The overall goal is to rack up 60+ miles at a medium pace with some good hilly terrain.

Ride will still happen if there is light rain but not if it's storming.

Sound off if you are game!

I will be at Kent lake b/c I think that is the only place you can get into before 7-8am. I'll be there at 6 and on the road shortly thereafter if anyone is interested. Then I'll be riding to and meeting everyone else at Silver lake at 7.

What's the earliest that you can park inside Kensington or IL?

I was planning to stay up this way this weekend because I needed to start so early.  Three  hours was my plan.  I was going to start around 6:30 or so.

I could swear the scheduled workout was a swim first and then a bike ride!

Spring Mill works for me if it's open. Backup plan of Kent Lake?

So are you guys game for the loop that includes the big hill on Kensington Road, downtown Milford, the proving grounds and a return trip through Kensington? Should be about 35-40 miles for the loop back to the park.

I hear the ride to the proving grounds can be a challenge...i'm in if everyone else is. I think the earliest you can get into Kensington at 6 but not sure about IL

I'm doing whatever.  I don't think I can get bagels that early though.  Y'all are on yer own.

I'll be around somewhere early, plus one more rider.  If you see me, give me a hollar.  I'll be parked where ever I can get in at 6:30 or so.

So are we swimming first, then heading out to ride at around 7:30-8, or are we swimming after? I would prefer to do more of a race simulation- swim, then actually try to practice transition, if that's OK.

And Robyn, how are we ever going to ride without bagels?!

YES and you and Robyn should also practice transition swim to bike - IOW run off the water, take cap/goggles off, unzip upper body part of wetsuit, run to car and once you get there finish taking wetsuit off... (I won't say any names but some one I know could have used 4 seconds saved at T1 or T2 last week! )

So was that you guys heading toward the back of the park just before 9:00? I would have turned around, but I was on a century mission and wasn't sure what pace you guys would be going at. After doing a double Kensington and the big Kensington Hill I'm glad I didn't give chase.

BTW, I parked at the car pool parking area and just started riding since it was going to be 8:00 by the time the park opened up. You can still use state land before and after park hours, the day use areas like parking lots are closed to vehicular traffic, but it's cool to pack a backpack of swimming stuff and ride in.

It was probably us. When we were all together there were 6 of us, then we were spread out a bit. Good to know about packing it in....I am not a fan of Kent Lake in Kensington to swim....ick.

I thought I might have seen Glen earlier in the morning too.  Where you wearing a long sleeve shirt under a greyhound jersey?  It didn't register until the after I was a ways down the road.

It was me and two other guys.  Mcclain was one of them.  It was about 7:00 or so in IL.

That was definitely me, the plaid is easy to spot. I thought I saw you early on as well when I rode back to the spring mill area. I later saw the pack of you around 8:45, there were two or three cervelo's in the group and I'm sure it was the infamous Trixie on the P3.

While I missed meeting up with you guys I did get my century in, that last loop through Kensington and South Lyon about killed me.

Someday we will meet, right?

Well whoever was rolling on the deep section wheels I was a bit jealous.

One of these days I hope to meet more of you guys, but it will probably be at a more northern race as I hope to be moving to Traverse City soon, only time will tell.
