Swim
Comments: Swim was rough lots of bumping, didn't get in an open area until about 250 yards in. What would you do differently?: go out harder Transition 1
Comments: run is about 250 yards up a hill onto pavement, got to T1 breathing hard from the run, had helmet strap issues had to take helmet off and on a couple times, just took way to long in there should have been about :30 faster What would you do differently?: Well if I was one of the race directors I would have had this area set up better and spent more time on making sure straps and equipment was ready to go. That is alright I was not looking to do anything special at this race, just wanted to do the course to see if we missed anything as directors. Bike
Comments: Road hard tried to stay at 24-25 mph, but just could not hold it, I would fall back to 20-21 for a couple minutes recover and go hard again. It seemed like the people around me were doing the same thing. What would you do differently?: not much I pushed as much as I could without burning my self up for the run. Transition 2
Comments: not sure what T2 time was timing company did not capture it was quick, feet were still wet decided to go without socks What would you do differently?: nothing good transistion Run
Comments: started the run with 3 guys all in my age group in front of me, I ran with a rival and friend for the 1st mile and 1/2 and talked, I was just enjoying the day and observing the race, I was then passed by another friend who is also in my age group and I think we all picked it up a little, I went a little harder and passed 4 guys in my age group and two went around me, I was catching the guy in front of me and we sprinted down the strench but just didn't have enough to catch him, he beat me by 1 second to take 3rd in my age group. What would you do differently?: nothing I could have race harder but I was content on enjoying the run and day, I was not really worried about placing, I was more concerned on how the race was being run and if the course was how I thought it would be. I would have felt kind of stupid giving myself an award anyway that would have be akward. Post race
Warm down: ran with some friends, the winner of the race and Greg a fellow BT'er for about a 1 in a half, then went back to my RD duties. What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing just didn't go hard Event comments: I thought the race went off well, I was happy with traffic control, course marking, and there was great fan support in which I wasn't expecting. For the first year it went great, we had a few gliches but those will get ironed out and this race can only get bigger and better. Last updated: 2008-06-08 12:00 AM
